Send me some pics of what you have so far and what your problems seem to be maybe I can tell you what to fix or something. Somethings I did you will be hard pressed to do with a dremel but some stuff can be done maybe.

Oh that looks pretty nice. You really don't loose much of the trigger guard do you. I'm waiting to start one of these and was worried about that. Looks do-able. Sniper bolt huh? Was the sniper bolt back like that or more forward like the straight bolt. I guess I could look that up. Is the bolt steel? Those are pricey. Plans to mount a scope? The scope is side mount and that would be a trick but oh would it look good. Mine is gonna be a regular one. What length is the barrel. 430mm as in the stock gun? I bet this could take the longer barrel easily. The Ami impression is coming along pretty nice too.

Thanks guys. No on the real steel the sniper bolt would come from the same spot the straight one did. I can't seem to come up with a good way to do that, that I think will be reliable and stable. Yes the bolt is steel. I like it as it is very sturdy and really not that expensive at about 20.00 shipped. The customer did not ask about a side mount scope. I don't trust something that heavy hanging over the side of the reciever like that. A chap in the UK did enquire about a side mount. Early early sniper 91/30's did have a center mount but those were prewar from what I have found. Stock barrel which makes it a little short. The steel insert centers it nice but I wish it was flush with the end of the barrel. A DB custom tightbore would work wonderfully I am sure and one of my future ones may get one of those. I think you will have alot of fun with the project Eratz. Thanks on the Ami impression maybe I will get to use it for something besides pictures someday soon.

Regarding the side mount scope Dan, (Mr. Dan? ;D) I was hoping to do that with mine when it is finished. Is this possible to do then, or not such a good idea? Perhaps I should send you more rubles, you'll be able to do this better than I can.

I'll send you a second PM Serov. It is possible but it will take a little work. It may not be a hard as I think.

I'm not a big technical guy but I can appreciate a nice looking gun. The wood stock seems in real good shape and your latest custom looks awfully good. From talking with my brother I think the Mosin's are a fairly hard custom project and you have it well in hand. Good job!

The Mosin stock is so thin compared to a KAR that it doesn't leave a lot of tolerance for mounting the airsoft internals. I looked at it but decided against taking it on. Dan work really provides a great alternative for folks with that Russian bent.

That is a pretty good conversion I kinda like the hinged part that holds the mag in I had thought of maybe doing that but went with the milled push button deally in the end. My original M44 is back in my shop to get the push button peice installed because he liked it so much. Did you use a USR or VSR for this or one of the MP001's? You could take a strip or 2 of thin metal epoxy it to the top back section of that upper handguard. paint it black and this should cosmetically fix that gap for you.

Yeah I was thinking of that for the handguard which I am most likely going to try. I used the Mp001 for the conversion.

Another way to lower the gun into the stock is to trim the metal block that the whole thing rests on. It has about a 1/4" of extra depth. Cut or file that off and then your barrel will be able to drop a bit. The Front of the magazine might not sit flush with the bottom of the stock but that would be better than what you have now with that gap. I also like the way you created a flip out trigger guard. I will look into that too. You didn't patent it yet did you?

I got the patent application rolling moments after stealing the idea EJ .J/K... At any rate I like it. I would be interested in how well it works at holding the mag in. It certainly is trick looking.

My father actually came up with that idea. And he had a friend cnc a metal block inbetween and put two pins in to hold it. But the flip isn't going to be the only thing holding the mag in because im not sure it is stiff enough. But you never know. Thats a good idea to shave the metal block I think I am going to do that.
"I did actually do the metal block shave and know its pretty much perfect. A big thank you to Ersatzjack. My major problem is know GONE."

New pictures of a 91/30 I just shipped. I now send them in a wooden box as I had some complaints of broken parts. upclose of the magwell area. I have a new idea to get rid of the mag catch area sticking even a little out. Perhaps on the next one I will be able to show pics of that. Bolt handle and safety area. The bolt handle is a real steel that is threaded into where the old stock handle went. I then epoxied it in place. frontend.
