4.2 Inch Chemical Mortar Caliber: 4.2” (107mm) Barrel Length: 48 inches (barrel is rifled) Weight: 333 pounds, complete Maximum elevation: 1065 mils Minimum elevation: 800 mils Maximum traverse: 350 mils right or left of center Maximum Range with high explosive projectile and point detonating fuse: 4,400 yards Minimum Range: 565 yards Types of Ammunition used during WWII in the ETO: High Explosive; White Phosphorus; Smoke; Illumination Rate of Fire: First two minutes: 40 rounds First 20 minutes: 100 rounds Sustained Fire: 80 rounds per hour - Intel Courtesy of www.100thww2.org The ball cap was not easy to design. The internals are a 3 inch piston piloted by 1/2 QEV and triggered by a blowgun. I have pressure tested this setup to 400 psi. Shot it as high as 260 psi. But for safety purposes I keep it under 150 psi. I sourced a 4" conduit sleeve. Trying like hell to keep it clean looking. ///ed///

Awesome job as usual. I don't see how you make such complex good looking stuff. Can't wait to see the finished project.

Wow. That has to be a monster. With that sort of design and build quality and range. The concept of legitimate indirect fire. remotely directed and aiming stakes and what not really become quite viable.
Great job. You are ahead of your time but definitely pulling the hobby in the right direction. I am impressed. Very cool indeed.

Thanks guys. I will try and have it complete for the gap in Amsterdam.
The benefit of a large of a large piston and a small chamber is less gas. My 81mm will suck a 20lbs tank dry in 200 shots. This design will get over 600 shots from a 20lbs tank.
I did finish a plywood 4.2 baseplate in about 1.5 hours. Sourcing info and clear detailed pictures of the 107mm is difficult.

About 90% completed. * Need to cleanup some knots plywood base. * Finish the mock tube recoil track. * Paint it. The "Standard" or elevator is always a pain-in-the-ass to make. Definitely not a portable weapon. I should repro the m1a1 mortar cart. handcartz.com/1/M1A1-Chem-cart-P-1.phpBut my gut is telling me to mount it to a piece of plywood with small 6" disconnect wheels and handles, to "wheel barrel" it around. That base could then be camouflaged with sandbags. Which are piled up all over it just like all of the original photographs. Making clear pictures of actual baseplate a headache to scale. ///ed///

Goddamn, that thing is slick! I think the wheel idea would work out great for it.
Amazing work yet again.

I suspect that while heavy, it's not nearly as heavy as a real one which was a monster. Like a real one you will need a crew for this guy. I can't wait to see it all painted.

Weighs around 80 lbs (35 kilos). The tube is 40 lbs, base is 8 lbs, and the standard is 30 lbs.

WOW, NICE JOB!!!
I hope you realize that, just bringing that to the game will make you a target for just about everything we Germans have... especially sniper fire from Josh.

Finished. Add 4 lbs for the mock recoil track. A coat of khaki primer/sanding sealer, then 3 coats of Krylon OD. I blued some of the bolts because paint and threaded bolts do not mix. The above photo is actually shows the back of the mortar traverse. I like to have the handle of the right side of the motor, not the left. I pictured it with it on the left side to be more historically accurate. ///ed///

Boy that does look nice. Great work as always.
Have you ever tried a water balloon round? That would solve a lot of guesswork on whether you are a casuality or not. If you get wet then you've been hit with shrapnel. Balloons and not tennis balls against personnel would be better if it could be done.
