It makes sense to me. Use up old textiles that are effective cammo. Also in the 50's weren't many Legionaires former SS or Heer? I thought I had read that somewhere before

The French also used a lot of captured weapons taken from the Germans , The French Air force had jet fighter squadrons that used ME262s and HE162s , French heavy armor units had Panthers . And yes there where Germans in the Legion in the '50s , if you listen to the L.E.F. marches you will notice that they are WWII German marches , one big example is the Legion song "Kepi Blanc" Check this out. www.youtube.com/watch?v=giAKxBLY6W4
