Internally yes, externally they are slightly different, the M1 had an "L" sight, the fire controls were the same as the M1928A1, the magazine catch was larger (left overs from the 28s) and the stock was not reinforced. The last of the production M1s were fitted with the newer controls and sights.

The M1A1 had different fire controls?

Yes they used the same rocker pivot and safety switch that the 28 did. Later models came with the new style and older M1s could be found with the new ones as replacements.

The last post was talking about the M1 variant, not the M1A1, the M1A1s fire controls were a completely new design (to simplify production). All Thompson models prior to that had blade switches.

Ok didn't know that. I'd like to see an M1 or M1A1.

My KA Thompson is converted to an M1 rebuild kind of deal. Basically an M1 upper with the A1 lower.

Kind of sounds like if they come out with both an M1a1 and M1928a1, in GBB, it wouldn't be too hard to swap the upper and lower on both to make a M1, but that would mean buying both!

The thompson is so overly redundant that I can't say that I am particularly excited about this offering although I guess any additional WW2 offering should be celebrated.

...a GBB Thompson...poofs gas smoke (more like vapor) and all... yeah, this is going to be a great seller if it is fairly priced and skirmishable ($330~$500.) For a while I just ran a gas M4 with 2 40 round mags and 1911 with 5 15 round mags at casual airsoft games, gas guns are playabel, just a bit more pricey.

Although, with the compensator on the m1928 model, as long as the barrel doesn't protrude into it, it would act great as a shot amplifier! And as you said with the vapors from each shot, this would be the realism many people would be looking for. I still think we need more commercially available rifles. Heck once we found the UkArms springer M1 carbine, they sold like hotcakes!

The more the merrier, though. ;D Maybe if they come out with a M1A1, I will have to keep myself from buying the King Arms M1A1 out now.

$400? Let's hope the gas one is cheaper (I doubt it.)

I would imagine most of their ww2 guns that are coming out, will be around that price

400$ isn't terrible, considering that it is real wood, proper receiver and ebb.
Lets hope the gbb is >500$

I am extremely excited to see the EBB all wood version and at 400.00 it appears to be a good value. the gas evn if priced similarly will net out much higher as the magazines will not doubt supply the gas and BBs and will probably run $50.00 to $60.00 each. Hence even having a reasonable number of spare magazines is going to get spendy.

yea my bad czar XD. I hope they release plastic wood versions to lower the price a bit.
So, do we as the ww2 community rejoice at this new release?

If we're lucky, it might have a tiny bit of kick. My friend's Echo 1 BAR actually has some recoil. More vibration, not recoil as such, but there is some rearward force. Almost certainly the piston and cylinder slamming into the back of the gearbox.

Depending on the quality of their GBB (I'm sure its good!), I may have to sell my Aeg thompson to get it! After getting my 1911 recently, I have started to love GBB's! For rifles, not so much, as accuracy at range is paramount, but for pistols, and Smg's range isn't really a key factor.

I really hope it's Co2 powered, and the cartridge/gas isn't in the magazine (But I know both of those won't happen). I've always been into gas powered airsoft guns, they are a lot more fun to use. And I seem to have insane amounts of problems with AEG's

Personally, I don't see the advantage of Co2 cartriages over green gas. Gas pressures may be higher, but the difficulty of obtaining expendable cartriages outweighs their use IMO. Plus, gas being stored in the mag means that a change of a mag means full BB's and gas all at once, no need to stop mid mag to pump in more gas.
