So far I haven't been able to find any clear pictures of Marine BAR gunner's in the Pacific, and I was wondering what other gear besides a BAR belt would a gunner have on him?

From what I've seen obviously a canteen or two, k bar knife, first aid pouch, and a set of the usmc suspenders

Sweet thanks for the info with the pic, just one thing when you say marine suspenders are you referring to the M36 khaki suspenders? Thanks again.

Stuka, what's up with the BAR gunner's boots in that pic?
SNAFU, a BAR gunner for '44-'45 would most likely have pretty much what everyone else has, the main difference being the belt. He may feel compelled to carry around an ammunition bandolier. I don't know a whole lot about the BAR and I don't know if carrying ammo could be done with a bandolier full of stripper clips.

The boots the BAR gunner depicted is wearing are the canvas jungle boots which were obviously lighter in weight than boondockers and leggings. They were popular but not very durable. A rare find in decet shape and a decent size and far too valuable to wear airsofting. There are some modern airforce boots that look similar and are actually pretty cheap. Essentially these were high, high top sneakers that didnt provide much in the way of ankle support but dried quickly and kept the bugs and leeches somewhat at bay.

Very interesting, 2ndBat. I've seen them before, but I guess I forgot I had until you named them. About when would be proper for their usage? '43? Might have to get a pair of those Air Force boots...

1950s British jungle boots are near identical to the WWII us ones and more readily available.
Prices got from UK GBP £10 to £80 depending on condition.
Mine were mint and cost me £12 but thats a very good find tbh
