I don't know if this is the right place, but since I'm planning on using original uniforms for airsoft and reenacting I was wondering if there was any particular way I should wash them to prevent damage?

Wool you probably want to have dry cleaned. Talk to the dry cleaner about any precautions they should take. HBT's and such should be able to go in the washing machine like anything else. If they're getting too fragile to run through the washing machine, they're probably not going to survive actual wear. Just my opinion. Others may be more informed.

To clean my HBT coveralls, I just machine washed them in cold water then let them hang by the stove to airdry. If that doesn't manage to get any mildew smell out, try to soak them in a bucket with a cup of regular cooking vinegar, It worked great for a nasty smelling canteen cover, along with an HBT shirt I have. Just remember to NEVER use warm or HOT water to wash and the dryer to dry; these can adversly affect the size due to shrinkage and the color saturation of the garment.
