I'm not an event host but had this idea boiling in my head, and I'm fully aware of the economy.
I'm sure we are all fully aware what operation east wind is. If there is a good event host with money maybe there could be somebody hosting those around the midwest.
There would need to be a lot of work to a field and need to get a good roster going but it could be possible.
I don't like how there are only maybe four games around the midwest a year with not a lot of hardcore players(Like I can talk I'm just getting into ww2 airsoft).
If there is something already like this than disregard the whole thread, but I thought it would be pretty interesting to see more large games like the ones in europe.

I agree I would like to see bigger games like I have seen in some European videos on youtube. I think with the larger selection of WW2 airsoft guns now the hobby will grow in scale and our games will mirror our European counterparts.

Ditto, and i'd like to go a game that requires uniforms, not tan v green, but not total stitch nazis either, or you can't play because everyone else has infantry collar tabs and you have artillery, etc. Even though I'm totally out of the way, I'd travel for a big game

Whenever I see a world war 2 gameplay on youtube or something, then I see m4's or ak's it bothers me. I would want gun restrictions and uniform restrictions. Not any of this "If you don't have the right gun, you won't be punished at all even though this is world war 2."
If you can afford a full ww2 uniform you should be able to afford the guns.

Problem is, an M1 Garand will be around $250 (if you're lucky) to $400 depending on the brand. The average price for 2nd Bat's conversions are somewhere around $450 to $500 depending on his mood. Then you have Thompsons and MP40s all running around, not many rifles at all. If I was going to run this event, I would have rifles outnumber the smg's, but that's not going to happen anytime in the near future. By the way, my Airborne uniform cost me upwards of $250 so a gun that is $500 will be a real scramble for me. But most of all, a lot of people come just to see if they like it first and that's when they bring their ak's and m4's.

At the front sells airborne and army loadouts for around $450-$550. A loadout and gun for east wind costs quite a bit of money, add in the price for the event and you would be spending a ton. So if we could get an event like that with enough hardcore airsofters it would be a good event. Problem is, there aren't that many fields that would be able to hold a lot of people. Hell's survivors is one of the few that I know of that wouldn't cost somebodies soul to use.
With how the ww2 guns are coming out (More rifles) the price should be going down on the rifles.

If your really want to draw big crowds, the base of players to tap would be the blankfire reenactors, I have heard of some units that do blankfire primarily and airsoft tacticals. They would have the 'to the stitch' accurate uniforms and with how much they spend on everything to make their impressions accurate, they could dish out the $500 for an airsoft M1.

Yeah I live in Michigan, why do you ask? I live around the Detriot area. Never been to Hell's Survivors but I have heard it's a really great place. Do you go to Sgt. Tom's events?

I live in Michigan also and would love to have a big WWII game in the area, but I see it being very difficult to pull together, but the effort is good to see.
To me, just having a big game right off the bat, might not go to well. You might not have the turn out you want, and a local field may not be as willing to work with you without knowing you.
My thought is to build up to a big game. Talk to local fields and have a few WWII themed rec games and as time goes on increase the uniform/gun restrictions until you have a good following and reputation. Once you have that, big WWII games should be easier to plan and go smoother.

No I haven't gone to his events, I'm just getting into ww2 airsoft. I'm thinking about going to hell's survivors this march or april depending on the weather. Alienbones - I'm not an event host I was just thinking about it and hoping a good event host would pick up on the idea.

Well Sgt. Tom runs some good games around the Ann Arbor area, we're thinking of doing on in April, there are some guys' old uniforms that you could try out and play in for the day. You should come down and see how you like it because it is not for everyone. Also we get about an average of 30 people per games so they are actually pretty big. wwiiairsoftreenactorsofmichigan.yolasite.com/

I'll think about it, I'd prefer to have my own uniform though.
Maybe I could convince some of my team into getting some ww2 gear and a gun/guns.

A loadout and gun for east wind costs quite a bit of money, add in the price for the event and you would be spending a ton. Just to clarify, there are plenty of cheap ways to Eastwind. East German and US gear are both super cheap in the US (It is well within reason to be into an EG kit for less than $150), West german is probably next with brit and soviet higher than the others (mainly due to shipping). A JG M16 or AKM is cheap, especially used. And we are in the MO/KS/OK area (This will be year 3 at D-Day adventure park in Wyandotte OK) so if you want to run down as a day player you can see what we are about on the cheap without buying full in. www.operationeastwind.com/NATO/DayPlayer.shtml www.operationeastwind.com/EB/DayPlayer.shtml The $200 game fees is the big one and it can seem scary to people when they are looking at the event but it goes towards fuel and vehicle maintenance, as well as 3 meals a day (both authentic A-ration hot meals and MREs) for nine days straight. There is nowhere else you'll find food as good as this for $21 a day. We have quite a few Eastwinders in the chicago area as well.

I can definitely understand that sentiment. Didn't intend to hijack this thread but I'd rather take the time to say it once now that 100 times later. The two most common bits of disinformation we have to fight is that we are stitch nazis and eastwind is prohibitively expensive.

I don't know if this helps but Atthefront.com has a economy line of gear, the quality is less but its cheap as hell and perfect for airsoft if you want to grab a few cheap ww2 item to liven up your impression, they still might have that section. Also the Rangers have alot of extra G.I. Gear enough for 2 to 3 people so keep that in mind if you wanna give it a shot and send me a PM!
