Has anybody tried it? If not tyen how come other then the lack of pto games. Couldn't you use an original stock and just cut like you would for a k98 build or is there more to it?

I havn't seen it done before although I have been asked to do a build for one but I'm guessing that fell through. The only difficulty I would see would be to get or make parts for it, as there is no crappy D-boys type 99 shell ejector out there to get parts/stock from. I dont think it would be very much different than a Bar98 or Springerfield conversion. I just think its popularity is very downplayed due to not any people having interest in portraying IJA/IJN troops, and that there arent many places that make repros of that type of gear. There are alot of willing USMC out there and very few IJA.

If I were you i'd save you're money, I spent alot of money on ww2 usmc gear and litterally never got to use it.
An airsoft vsr10 arisaka would be the same as any of the other vsr10 builds. They take a long time to build (my kar98 took ~5 months and my m1903 took 2 months), but they're the most reliable out of any bolt action rifle in my opinion (just need to buy a steel 1st sear) and the most upgradable

with my local group, they don't care as long as i am trying and the only thing that would give the usmc impression is the helmet cover so if some game is super script all i need to do is to take it off. Granted i will have usmc leggings, suspenders and pack but that shouldn't make the slightest difference because it will just look like an eto bar gunner

I agree that provided you have the upgraded trigger seer (which is relatively inexpensive). The VSR base gun, spring conversion result in the most skirmishable bolt actions. Unfortunately though beautifully done up, the newly introduced gas bolt action WW2 models ( Kar 98, SMLE, Springfield etc.) have had spotty reviews with regard to reliability, power and consistency. Hopefully that will improve with tweaks and enhancements but for now the homebuilts are your best bet and can often be bought very reasonably.

The challenge is the width not so much the length. The Arisaka is very skinny and the stock isnt wide enough to accomodate the VSR magazine and leave enough side wall to provide adequate strength. A custom somewhat thicker stock would work but...

Tanaka has gas models of both rifles already. Though, being Tanakas, they cost an arm and a leg.

If you don't mind it being out of spec with the real thing, you can still use the VSR10 rear stock and receiver. But the AGM MP001 would be a better fit (though it's internals are infamously made of cheese).

sounds like the mp001 would more accurately represent the arisaka XD

The biggest issue (among many) for the MP001 is the flimsy trigger seer. I've seen them go out in 50 shots! This however can be replaced with an upgrade part. The upside is the whole gun is so inepensive that you can buy another whole gun for bout the same as the upgraded trigger set.

Dont buy any uniforms from Hiki shop. I have twice orderd their Finnsih M/36 tunic and boht thimes get the wrong size. Onece from their size chart and once wiht my specifik mesurments and they manage to srew that up also. So i don t rekomend them for re enacting uniforms but it s ok i guess for airsoft loudout.
