Personally I would keep it that way, Its a beautiful gun but eventually its gonna break, and I'd rather have a working gun than a broken one!

i owned two of them since I really wanted a functional M1 Garand and I assumed when the first one broke it was a fluke. NOPE the second broke right away as well. I followed all the recommended steps, tightened all the tiny nuts and bolts I could find, treated them like new born calves and used the best 8mm Bbs I could. Both of them ate their young within 500 rounds fired. Even at their best the were picky and problematic but they were fun to shoot for a very brief window while they worked.
Do yourself a favor just hang it on the wall and stare at it. Pull it down occassionally and say "bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang! And then throw an enbloc clip on the ground. Better still sell it while it works and get a DENIX non firing gun you can also stare at and go "bang bang!". Save up your money and buy an ICS or a well cared for used 2nd Bat from someone on the forum. They will most likely function for thousands upon thousands of rounds. if they require a repair it will be simple with parts available.

A friend of mine who owns a hobby shop said his broke in only a few clips I hope you didn't buy more than one bag of ammo. My Marushin M1 Carbine was the very first gun I bought when I got into airsoft (not knowing how crappy it was of course). I rarely shot it except when I was at the battles, so it lasted me about two years. But guess what... in those two years I fired less than two bags of 8mm bb's. So bottom line it only lasted maybe 750 rounds at most.

Yes but unfortunately for the Marushin M1, it must have a deathwish!

Wow you really are stuck wanting desperately to believe in this model. So much so that you are apparently completely closed to input and testimonials. I can relate to that as I so wanted to believe in it that i bought two of them. Inspite of all the evidence and comments suggesting how bad they were and my experience with the first one breaking. In that sense i was dumber than you apparently are. Passion can be very myopic. There are legions of suggestions on how to get the most from your Marushin M1, right here in the technical thread you can go back for years. Every new tip i was hoping was the pixie dust that would make this model viable. Sadly none were. The action is simply too complex with way too many potential weak points. Your toy is like your fathers boat. His happiest day will be the day he sells it.

The JG Bar-10 will last you 5,000 rounds The Tokyo Marui Thompson will last you 15,000 rounds The Shoei MG42 will last you 20,000 rounds The Marushin M1 Garand will last you uhh 1 round.

Marushin m1 bb use is like cat years except every bb shot is like 1000 bbs. If you get 300 shots out of it before it dies it's like 30,000 rounds from a Tokyo Marui AEG. Trust me, take your rifle to the pet shelter while it's still living otherwise it will be stored in parts in the closet of your man cave.

So... a Marushin that makes it 1000 rounds is equal to a Marui that fired 1 million rounds?

No...a marushin garand that makes it to a thousand rounds without a stoppage or breakdown is a miracle.

So Shifty, be honest what is and continues to be the status of your Marushin M1 Garand? Others considering the purchase of one of these probably need to know.
A functioning Marushin GBB Garand is no doubt somewhat collectible as God knows it's rare indeed.

Mine is still functioning and has been skirmished with. It is not a beginner's rifle by any means and it took considerable skill/luck to make the shots that got me eliminations with it. Would I recommend it as a skirmish weapon? Hell no. But do I regret buying it? No. It is unique and still a very cool piece that I like to bring out and use once in a while.

I thought you were seeking the production of assorted repair parts to get it functioning and were suffering disappointments from the outfit you had commissioned to create the pieces. Must be thinking of someone else?
So how many rounds would you say you've put through it without a failure? If you are skirmishing with it you are a braver man than I am!

It's a long story. It is functioning right now (though I haven't fired it in a while, so the seals are probably a bit dry.) The blowback parts are still the garbage metal the original manufacturer used, and in theory I am having steel replacements made, but the machine shop is taking a long time. This one, however, is in my own town, unlike the last one who scammed me out of $90. It's not in ideal condition, but it works. It is a lot of fun to skirmish. One has to count rounds very carefully and space out shots, much like one would use a real M1 I imagine.

It did break. I managed to source some replacement parts to get it up and running again and it has not broken since.

I've had a new part #45 machined by an engineer but it cost me a pretty penny to do so! I've sourced some other steel parts and re-inforced valves but still need a steel part #42.
Have yet to skirmish it but am looking forward to it. Luckily I don't feel the need for high cap magazines to be effective (as some do). Will update on how things progress.

Incidentally: does anyone have any ideas on how to improve the return speed of the bolt? It opens quickly enough but going back into battery is pretty sluggish...

Stiffer recoil spring maybe? I haven't the slightest idea where one would find a suitable candidate though

Indeed. I was looking at compression springs last night trying to figure out what I would need but alas, I have no idea!

My M2 Marushin Carbine died on me after 2 years of abuse... it was a broken O-Ring! Anyway, it´s still firing and being ang all-around nice girl... But the Banana Clip is making my Obesive Compulsive Disorder a nightmare! I must have a regular M1 clip!

No...a marushin garand that makes it to a thousand rounds without a stoppage or breakdown is a miracle. What exactly is the problem with the Marushin M1 Garand? Is it those parts 42 and 45 that break? What goes wrong with them? How do they break?
