Hello all! I am working on reinvigorating this hobby in Northern Illinois. When I first joined this forum I was extremely excited to see that the WW2AA apparently started in the Chicago area only to find that there is literally nothing happening here in recent years. I really want to change that. In the last year I have been extremely fortunate to have been able to play with and get to know the guys of MOA and they have been a huge inspiration to me. While I don't expect to be able to keep up with their frequency of events, what I would like to do is be able to hold 2-3 games a year down here (and definitely hope to be able to have them attend) to try and encourage people to not only invest in the sport here but to also think about growing the sport in the greater midwest area. If this is something you are interested in or would like to help out with please join the facebook group below and lets make this happen! I already have my eyes on a couple of possible locations, all we need now is players. All are welcome, even if you have limited kit (I am all for partisans) and no matter what your location. I appreciate input and feedback from all and as I've stated before on these forums I really think it's important that we increase our presence on social media. I would like to start out with ETO battles exclusively though I would certainly be open to doing some PTO events in the future if the player base is there. Thanks guys, Justin www.facebook.com/groups/130201877183893/?notif_t=group_r2j

Justin, if you don't mind an old guy who use to reenact WWII with blank burners, I'm up for it! Actually I started out in WWIIAS back in 2005. I had to stop because I lost my job, house and wife. I did a GI para, 82nd and USMC. Sold almost everything but the AS guns. Now the bright side! I have a job now and soon a new place to live, but it's on the far southside, Lockport. Another good thing? Still no wife, don't want one. TooTall

Absolutely! I'd love to have anyone on these boards join the FB page but living in Lockport puts you right in the backyard of where I'm hoping to hold the first event. Click the link above and I'll add you. I'm hoping to host the first game around the first weekend of November.

That would be great! I am thinking the first event will be a 1944 France scenario. US/French Partisans vs Germans. There is a large player base down here, just not a lot with the proper uniforms so I really want to give people a chance to get a taste of the gameplay and get them excited about putting together impressions for future events. We need GI's!

I use to have a bunch of guys come out to my old place in Channahon. Right behind the house was a state owned area that at one time was stripmine land. Had some great fun back there. Had to move around flooded parts and no one knew we were back there. Went through alot of BB's. We went out there mostly in the spring and fall.

Sounds like a blast Tootall. Just as long as the wives are not invited. LOL. I think I'm a little too far south but would love to get in on that.

If the times and dates work out for me I'd probably be able to make it down for a IL game.

Depending on location and event size I could make the drive, I pretty much only have USMC uniforms and gear but I do have an original 2nd pattern hbt shirt, rough outs, and some various army web gear

I am going to approach the field and ask for the first weekend of November. I will keep all posted. If this location works out it will be in NE Illinois about an hour and a half SW of Chicago.

WW2 Airsoft in Illinois kinda died out after an incident involving the police, and the unauthorized use of land during an event. The land was in a member's backyard, but because he didn't technically own the property, a legal incident resulted from it, and it slowly disintegrated from there. We have all moved onto blank reenacting and have vastly improved our impressions, but we also still have a massive arsenal of ww2 airsoft guns. If there were another event I could try to convince others of the original Illinois airsofters to come out. I'm sure everyone's still interested. I'll keep in touch.

The Legacy was asking what happened to WW2AA in Illinois, and that's essentially what happened.

There is a game in Neillsville WI in late October. Information can be found by going to www.ostfrontairsoft.com and entering the discussion boards and accessing the events thread. It is a twenty acre field with bunkers, varying terrain and a village. Always lots of fun. It is about a five hour drive from Northern Illinois. If you want to play, that's the place.

Any WWII impression works. I assume you mean US? A decent partisan impression will also work. You should have a WWII weapon.

I'm in Chicago, I'd be very interested in joining. Still working on my German kit though. Anyone in Chicago that wants to discuss the impression kit, gun etc,? I've been collecting Waffen-SS militaria for the past 15+ years

There is a German unit in the Chicago area. They are the 6th SS. A couple of their members post occasionally on these boards and they have come to events in Wisconsin although not recently. The other German unit is pretty much Wisconsin based and is the 3rd Panzergrenadier Division. Visit www.ostfrontairsoft.com for more info on them and to contact the unit leader. Good luck in the hobby.

Gentlemen, there is no reason why you cannot have a legal insured game here in northern Illinois. The owners of the long used Realms of Ruin near Custer Park, Il, have moved and now own a 88 acre site in Lockport. It is called Legacy Park. It is for airsoft and paintball. It is on the south side of town between the Ill waterway and the old I&M canal. the site is on facebook and they have their own website as well. Our modern milsim group, the Chicago Airsoft Association has used the site several times including the very first event held there prior to the general public opening. It was used for Codename Thunder as well. Our games have been $35 and if a camping event is needed they have magnificent camping sites as well. They are a great bunch of folks and we have run events that have raised money for Wounded Warrior and last year held a food drive for Veteran's families. It is the best site in the area and very reasonable. There is superb parking and food is available on site. If you want to hold an event then this is the place for it. I know the owners well and if you want to form a committee to approach them an event, lets get together and get it done. You wont be sorry about the site. I live in Montgomery and it is a half hour drive for me.
