For anyone who is intersted, I am holding a crossover event, that blends WW2 Airsoft and modern. This is mostly just to draw interest and recruit for the WW2AA. It will not have any real backdrop, or theme. This game is intended to ressurect regular airsoft games in the area, and hopefully WW2 airsoft with it!
Where: Lash’s Paintball 1174 County Hwy 107, Johnstown (Perth), NY 12095
When: Sat, Sept 7, 2013 Sign-in starts at 9:00am and ends at 9:30am
Safety Briefing at 9:30am
Game starts at 10:00am
Game Ends at 4:00pm
Cost: $15 per person No Pre-Registeration, Just pay at the field
I do have several modern guns I am renting out along with some full US kits if anyone needs them $15 Per Modern Gun $25 Per WW2 Impression (includes uniform, web gear, and gun) .20g BB's are available at the field if needed
If you are interested in attending, just PM me to let me know, or if you have any questions! I hope to have some more WW2 guys attend to represent our hobby, especially Germans, but there will be more of these types of events being held over the next few months, in case you can't make this one.

So on friday, I talked to the field owner Burt, and he brought something up. Recently, the US Army Reserve has sponsored and put on a paintball eventat his field, and will be doing another. I went to it, and although it was botched a bit, there was at least 50 people in attendance. He mentioned that he knows a guy that is a regular at his field, and has contact with some specific recruiters. These recruiters could possibly put on and sponsor Airsoft events at his field! It would be either NO/Very little charge for players to attend, and there would be plenty of military know-how to help keep things running smoothly ( the paintball event didn't run smoothly, because of the much shorter engagement distances in paintball, and the lack of inter-team coordination, which will be fix next time around). The best part, is the military already has plenty of airsoft guns that can be "issued out" instead of just the few I have to lend. This also means we could possibly tap into the large group of students at the community college a few miles away. I will be meeting up with the fellow, this Sat, at my event and hopefully we can set something up either monthly or bi-monthly, to help both the US Army, and the WW2AA Army recruit!

All good news. I'm up for that. Only bad news is I won't be able to attend your game next weekend. Last minute conflict. But I'll be sure to see you in the near future. Migs

Contact local colleges that have ROTC departments and encourage them to organize and send a contingent. Also many colleges have airsoft clubs that can be notified about your event.

I checked at the community college, and there isn't any current airsoft clubs. I talked with a college student rep. and she is willing to help by advertizing on campus. Ill have to look into the ROTC program

They usually have a bulletin board and a web site with a forum.

I won't be able to make this one (just started a new job), but wish I could be there. It's an awesome field and Brownien runs a great event. Best of luck with everything!

Disappointing. Only 3 showed up, of the 10 or so who said they would. My father came later on and played as well as a younger kid who was helping fix up the paintball field. So in total 6 at the end of the day. It was very fun despite the few numbers, but still disappointed that only 3 would show. The Reservist Advocate was one of the no shows, but I was informed that he drives a semi truck for work, and couldn't make it. Ill try to catch him another time. As for my own events like this, I won't be trying anything big anymore. I will simply set up airsoft games among friends, including those I made at the event, every other Saturday. I think this would be a better route, and less stress on me to get the general airsoft word out. Then, when there is a decent showing of people, I will set up a larger event.

Sorry to hear about the no-shows. Maybe opening week of the NFL had something to do with that. General airsoft games is probably the best way to get the word our right now as long as you dress in your WW2 duds and bring some of your arsenal. I'll be at GZA the end of this month doing the same, hope to see you there. I'll let you know the date once I make the arrangements. This Sunday I've been invited to the NE Tank and Military Museum for a private party, I'm hoping to see some of the old faces that have been absent from our events lately and see what their plans are for future airsoft events. Be well, Migs

Thanks to Migs for going to the museum event, hopefully something will come of it.
Bownien, sorry to hear about the low turnout... if I could have been there, I would have.
If you have a standing WWII game up there in Perth, maybe you could open up the doors to whoever can show up (charge what you need to). If there's a game on every other week, you could get some folks who might be able to make it up there, and once they've been it might make them more likely to show up for a bigger scenario. I know for one that if I was planning on being upstate for something else, I'd pack my kit if I knew I could be in on a skirmish. If you go that route, a quick post on here as a reminder might get a few extra heads. You never know.

Sure! I know I will be doing a general game every other Sat. I am hoping that the word can get out to students at the local high school and college, from the guys that did show up. Ill make sure to post up a heads up for those who would like to come too. I think I will only charge the minimum of $5 for each person for these Sat games.

This is a fabulous museum. the only one i know of dedicated to the tank destroyer branch of the us army. This short lived branch existed exclusively during ww2 as there was no need prior and the concept was seen to be obsolete and the branch was dropped after the war. Since no military base hosts the tank destroyer branch there is no formal museum as the infantry museum at ft benning or the spec ops museum at ft bragg, transportation corp at ft belvoir, ordinance at aberdeen etc. Sam on these boards is the curator.
It would seem that this facility as a catalyst could help push ww2 airsoft now that weapons have become more affordable, more diverse and more skirmishable. Sam has his hands full at the museum but would no doubt love to see someone carry the torch.
