Hello all, I was wondering what the 101st did about radio operators and what they used as a radio. Just a quick question because i always like to have communication but dont know what is allowed. (Doing a 1944 101st kit) Thanks

The US Army had the finest communications equipment of any army of the time. The mainstay radios were the hand held BC 611 which was nicknamed the "handy talkie". (although it is often mistakenly referred to as the "walkie talkie". The company level radio was the bc 1000. Which was a back pack radio and was nicknamed the " walkie talkie".
Field phones were ubiquitous for company to battalion communications and between out posts and platoons. They were decidedly more reliable then the radios but wires were frequently broken during artillery attacks.
