With 20 percent discount should amount to 170-ish. This may start replacing the MP40s with 5,000,000 round high-caps and give me a reason to skirmish with my Garand

I had been following this for a while, and it appears to be a Tanaka clone. This means they may release a G version later.

From the looks of it, after the redfire gas kar98 has been on the market a while, they will come out with a spring version, judging by their Mosin.

Tanaka made a spring-powered one for a very affordable $780. I mean it's a Tanaka, but still...

Well if redfire did it with their Mosin, I wouldn't doubt they will do it with their kar98k. If its right around the same pricerange, there will be no excuse for new recruits not to have one!

I would absolutely buy a Kar 98 Spring powered VSR based rifle if it was under $300.00 and functioned well.

I'm going to pick up the kar98k. I would get the Mosin, but I have no real use for it, having all US and French partisan kits.

I finally got around to ordering one on monday. It should be arriving Thursday! I'll try to get a report out, most likely Saturday. I will also be gaming with it a bit this Sunday, so I will be able to tell how well it fairs in combat.

So I recieved the gun early today! I must say, beautifully made gun! It is indeed all metal and wood. The quality on the wood is excellant. It feels very solid, and has a nice matte finish like a RS stock. The bolt is also built solidly, and racking it doesn't show any real wobble in the bolt mech. I like that the firing pin actually operates like the RS firing pin. You can even cock the firing pin without racking the bolt by lifting and lowering the bolt handle, like the RS. Only downside is, the safety is only 2 position instead of 3, and when set on safe and the trigger pulled, the trigger is tripped up but the gun wont fire. When this happens, the firing pin disengages the trigger sear, and catches on the safety and won't allow the safety to be turned off. The only fix is to manually pull the pin back so it again catches on the trigger sear. This could be fixed by shimming, or by an adjustment inside, but I will find out when I field strip it. Hopefully some photos after work tomorow.

Be sure to let us know how it shoots and any difficulties you anticipate with regard to its use in a skirmish. Ease of loading, how many rounds, consistency etc. I hate to sound chicken but frankly its always nice to get other opinions from folks you trust before shelling out the dough. With so many new choices our new options are increasing by the week it seems. What did you end up paying? delivered price? if you don't mind my asking.
Is it a true clone of the Tanaka do you think? the Tanaka has always been very very good but too expensive for my budget. The shown magazine is 10 rounds and typically there is no Bb drop with gas guns but how many reloads can a magazine hold before power drops off? Are spare magazines available and if so what do they run. With the Tanaka FPS actually goes UP with heavier BBs (obviously to a point) so it's something to test with this one.

Great To hear. I was limited in range when testing the sample.
and for only $350 ish... compared to others this is a great improvement in price and quality. hopefully spare mags will follow shortly.

I did get the chance to fire it, and it was very consistant (by eye) in velocity shot for shot. I was having some trouble with the accuracy at a distance. I cleaned the barrel, and it had quite a bit of gunk. I hope this will help accuracy.
