U'mmmmmmm. It (The ICS Garand) shoots ribbon straight (for an airsoft bb gun) at 415 to 420 FPS and if you can explain to me how "rifling" is going to have a positive effect on a ROUND BB, knock your self out. This screams "gimmick" to me and entirely uneccessary. I have never owned a more precise, accurate BB gun then the ICS Garand. I currently own for my own personal use ( and local events) over 3 dozen airsoft guns. A tighter bore barrel will typically produce greater FPS and somewhat better accuracy but whatever comes stock in the ICS Garand is excellent. Others with ICS Garands chime in with your experience?

The idea behind rifling in a firearm is to have the bullet expand into the grooves of the barrel to get it spinning. BBs don't expand in the barrel. If anything, it seems the rifling would allow for more air to escape, giving the opposite intended effect

A case of 'form over function' if ever there was. Perhaps for the collector, with an urge and capability to spend money w/o real purpose, except show. Sort of the "hey, check this out! I've got a ICS Garand with a RIFLED barrel", person. Probably the same kind of fellow who owns a guitar amp with the volume knob that goes up to level 11.

The Falcon barrels do not have rotating rifling. Rather, for the last 2 inches or so, the rifling is straight, thus creating a "cushion" of air around the BB, similar to the TK Twist barrels. However, this is not made for the Japanese market, so it does not go crazy with muzzle energy over 1 joule.

As mentioned earlier. "GIMMICK". Buy an ICS, put 10,000 missfire free rounds, as straight as any airsoft rifle i've ever seen (that is within field limits) and then decide if it needs to have anything added to it to improve performance. I do not have any affilitation with ICS an no selfish reasons whatsoever to be so lavish with my praise. The ICS is that good based on my experience and extensive testing.
The only possible reason I could see for interior slots (technically not rifling) at the muzzle would be to prevent barrel suck that sometimes happens with long, tight tolerance barrels. The reality is that most of the custom upgrade stuff offers nominal performance improvement at great cost and lots of reliability/ durability issues.
If someone wants to spend the money and put the gun through serious, scientific testing that can prove viable improvement I am wide open to being persuaded. Unless or until i see such data from someone credible I won't be spending my money on it.
