Hi Guys,
I'm currently working on my Marushin M1 carbine to make it more period-correct. I was able to change the Barrel band to Early type, and was able to buy an Type 1 rear sight. The barrel band was so easy to replace that I thought the rear sight would be a breeze to install, but no! The type 1 doesn't fit the groove after the Type II/III adjustable sight was unscrewed.
Any one of you guys know how to install this? Would appreciate a detailed how-to, if available.
Thanks!

The mounting base for the early war "l" peep site was different then the late war sights. The early site slid into a angled slot bracket front and rear. To create the look on the Marushin carbine (any version) you'll have to fabricate something. If you're okay with a semi permanent mount. Use JB weld and affix it and then sand and finish appropriately. I did that with mine and feel it looks okay.

Regardless of the specific model you will have to mount it creatively as none of them are set up for the early war "L" peep site.

That's a bit odd, as the CYMA fits without issues, right?

Negative, the CYMA springer requires some minor effort to set it up to accept a proper "L" peep site. In truth for the inexpensive springer i'd either leave the late war rear site or fabricate a replica early war site (which is fairly easy to do). A good quality replica peep site cost nearly as much as you can get the cheap springers for. I do have to admit with a few nice accessories the cheap CYMAs do look pretty good. I have added some reproduction khaki slings, the correct sight on a couple of them and sewed on a stock pouch on one and it does add. Lot to the overall look. I have more money wrapped up in the add ons then the guns themselves!
