Just signed up on the forum. Just purchased my first AS then ordered 3 more. I am active on the weapons guild forum and build real semi auto weapons. I have the airsoft bug and my interest is mainly WWII. I enjoy working on these things and hope to be active on this site. Couldn't find a thread for new guys, so this is where I posted.

Welcome to the boards. What part of the country are you from? What impression are you going to build?

Southern Ohio, not sure yet on the impression. I used to reenact 1700's with flintlocks. Busy with work so not much time to play. My main hobby is collecting WWII and focus a lot on Japanese. Feel free to move the thread, I couldnt find the new member section last night. I attend the Ohio Valley Military Collectors show and the big show in Louisville which I think is in Feb. I tried to hang around in a couple of the airsoft forums, but seems to be a whole different type of people who hang in those. I am interested in building some one off airsoft weapons that cannot be purchased.

The last few years have been wonderful with the introduction of several long awaited weapons such as the MP44' Sten, Grease gun, ICS Garand and some new gas bolt action rifles Mosin Nagant, Springfield and Kar 98. None of these bolt actions have been as skirmishable as we would like. If you are interested in the Pacific Theater an Arisaka for the IJA would be nice. A us weapon I would really like to see someone do would be the Ivar Johnson rifle the light machine variant would be appropriate for eithet theater (albeit limited use). There are lots of threads on assorted custom builds that hopefully can help you avoid some pitfalls, generate some ideas and perhaps further inspire you. Welcome to the community we will watch for your endeavors and wish you good luck with them.

Ditto what 2nd Bat said. Thanks for answering. Once you decide on an impression you're more than welcome to give an MOA game www.ostfrontairsoft.com a try. It would be a drive for you but I'm gathering you're older than most on these boards. You could go out East too since you're between both of the active groups that are near (hah!) you. Good luck with the hobby.

If you're really serious about doing IJA/IJN I suggest waiting for g&g's 1903 or you could just buy one of the two kar's on the market, looks better then jut running around with a modern looking boltie. Granted you could just spend the large chunk of change and just buy a tanaka arisaka
