I bought a pair of leggings from At The Front and put water on em to see if they were water proof, they just absorb the water and I play in an area with a stream and almost like Guadalcanal and in the summer it would be great to go through the water without a problem. I need something that I can cover the leggings in so water will just slide right off, please help.

Try non colored shoe polish. I use kiwi brand natural shoe polish on my Corcorans, and when I do regular leg infantry, I slap some leggings on over top of them. Just put the leggings on like you would wear them, and apply the polish with a brush. Make sure you coat them evenly, and don't be afraid to put too much on, you may actually need to do a couple layers to fully saturate them. Once it's on, take a shoe brush and "shine" them. They wont actually shine, but it will remove any excess on top, and even out the top layer. Just note that getting the waxy polish on the laces will make them a bit harder to tighten up when putting them on.

The sprayon water repellant will work to reduce the water absorption as will browniens suggestion to use clear shoe polish. Neither will make them water proof and by their inherent design water of course will still get in your shoes/ boots and soak your feet. Leggings were designed simply as an inexpensive means to provide additional upper ankle support without expensive boots and to provide protection from brush, snakes bugs etc. They were enormously unpopular except with the older Marines who had to use putees which were an even bigger hassle.
Be sure when you put them on you do so correctly. Its hard to tell but it appears in your moniker that you have done so. The hooks go on the outside and should be facing backward so as to not snag on things when moving forward. The buckles thus are on the outside. It is so funny to see how many people put them on wrong. If it were me and i wanted to "waterproof" my leggings, i would use the neutral shoe polish as this was available at the time and will stiffen the canvas a bit as well.
