If you don't want to hear stuff like that, don't watch the show... I only watched one episode and called B.S.

I enjoy watching 60s era wwii movies and seeing them use pattons as Shermans, and Shermans as tigers.

I never could figure out why the movie folks back in the 60s and 70s didn't make a little better effort on the vehicles. Typically they used Patton M47s for German tanks and invariably painted them grey and used the M24 light tank as Shermans. Had they added side skirts and a turret shroud and painted them appropriately for the ETO the credibility would have been enhanced greatly for very little money. A bridge too far and of all things the dirty dozen and Hogan Heroes were the first movies that seemed to make an effort and guys like me appreciated it. The movie Patton is one of my favorite war movies but the tanks shown were a real disappointment. M48s for German tanks! Horrible! The other disparity in that movie that was disconcerting was the SHAEF patches were all POST WAR Blue instead of the Black that signified the oppression of Europe. My dad being with SHAEF and wearing that patch made me especially sensitive to it however. Otherwise the uniforms and vehicles were quite good.
It is nice to see Speilberg and Hanks make the effort they do to do it well but even there we stitch Nazis find much that is incorrect to the point of obsession.

For a film maker not steeped in the various uniforms and weapons, just being around tracked vehicles and being able to film them is probably a major rush and once done they can't imagine that everyone wouldn't get caught up in the coolness.

I don't know too much about helmets, but wasn't the PASGT helmet made in the 1980s? How did he get one in 1968 lol

Scott, there is no doubt in my mind the show is fake. I'll admit it can sometimes be entertaining but i'm about done w/ it. All they are now are poorly scripted commercials. I only posted this for fun to see if anyone else noticed.

There are photos of the cast members of Duck Dynasty from not too many years before the show came out, clean shaven cartigan sweaters looking like investment brokers. Typical "reality tv". All " TV" not much "Reality"
The turretless M24 chafee was definitely a gross misrepresentation of combat effects. The best Battle of the Bulge movies (and in my opinion) one of the best war movies of all time was BATTLEGROUND from 1949 Great character development, spot on dialogue and quite true to the history. Low budget but with a great cast and compelling story. Ironically five of the main characters who were no ones when they filmed that movie went onto long careers and all died the same year. James Whitmore, Van Johnson, Ricardo Montalban, James Arness and Richard Jaeckle. Inspite of its low production cost, (much of it filmed in a cold storage wharehouse,) it was nominated for six academy awards (including best picture) and won two. (script and sound)
If you haven't seen it I highly recommend it.

2nd Bat,
I highly agree with you about Battleground. I'd been dying to see it after i'd seen a little bit when the Military channel played it but the stupid DVR kicked it off. Finally was able to watch it last week and loved it.
