April I think works much better, not only because of schedule differences, but also because gas guns work better in the warmer temps (hint hint)

The first weekend in march wouldn't work 8th & 9th. The field owner Burt has another group scheduled for that Sat, and I doubt you guys would want to make a drive out for a one day event. I don't really want to move things too far back, as I would like to put another on in May/June or even late April, but all depending on if Migs will be planning a DDay event. If also like to go to GZA to do a crossover event sometime this spring and summer to really get our word out there in the modern airsoft world. I know last time we went, despite the rain, a couple of people who I spoke to either had partial kits, or really wanted to start a kit, but didn't know we as a community existed! And that's with 70ish people! Imagine the impact if we can attend an event with 300+!?!?! I would imagine any modern player considering ww2 airsoft would be excited to see 20+ Germans and American GI's rolling as a squad! All things to think about, but so far I would like to stick with the 15&16 weekend. Sorry guys!

Other than the 15th, nothing I n March works for me. April also doesn't work, and the GWA event is in april as well.

I believe that Nate picked this particular date as it worked for some of his buddies that will be home from college around that time. Personally any date in March works for me, but April is problematic as my family will be on spring break vacation 4/12 to 4/19. So that kills both of those weekends and probably the weekends right before and after. What I do think we need to do is whatever weekend is chosen, we have to have a good balance of forces. Can't pick a weekend where there's mostly one side or the other. The other is what works best for our host and field availability. And on a side note, it's not the same if I don't have my favorite kraut to kill (Mark intersburger) not present!

I have a work event the weekend before, so if it gets moved back, I would not be able to make it, and I'm sure neither of the guys I'm trying to get to come with me would go if I don't (one has been to one event, the other is a total noob). I certainly wouldn't put my needs above Shifty and Scott, so if you can get enough Germans for the weekend before, go for it, I don't want to be the guy who stands in the way of making that work. I think more likely though you would have a ton of Amis and not enough Germans to shoot at. I am very sorry about this, I thoroughly enjoy playing against the Michigan crew and hope to again soon. My apologies that my schedule won't let me resolve the conflict. Ditto for me, cant come the weekend before or 2nd week of April. The date you chose is perfect for me. Sorry

It appears that the scheduled date seems to work best for the majority. I hope those who have conflicts can make other arrangements. And on a side note: Mark, I don't recall ever being killed by you

I was thinking about going to the Reading air museum WW2 weekend June 6, 7, and 8. They have a Bunch of bf guys there doing a battle. I wonder if that might be a good place to try recruiting. Lots of WW2 enthuseists there anyway. I bet a lot of them have never seen WW2 airsoft. Might be a good place to set up a booth and do a demo or let people try target practice in a airsoft shooting range. I could enquire about it. It seems like a cool place to hang anyway. Lots of venders and cool vehicles.

I know years ago Gordak attempted to do that very thing at the Bulge Blankfire event at Indiantown Gap and met with massive resistance to the offer. He was in fact censured and banned from doing so. Apparently there are many folks in the BF community who see airsoft as a threat to their hobby which is silly of course as there is lots of cross pollination. By all means look into it and hopefully attitudes have changed.
We did an airsoft shooting range at a large airshow and were cross sponsored by the military vehicle club who set up a GP medium tent to house the firing area and they screened of the range itself. We provided weapons, ammo and batteries and people made donations in order to shoot the guns. We raised a lot of money for the club and the Wounded Warrior Foundation and increased awareness about airsoft. a local airsoft shop donated BBs in payment of a sign acknowledging them.
It was a huge success.

The BF guys are probably very well end entrenched there. It's a military collectors show though, not just a reenactment so maybe it is not run by BF guys. Yeah, if we did show up with a contingent the BF guys might put up a stink. But I really don't care about attitudes. I think the exposure might help our cause. Has anyone.ever been to the Reading air show? Or interested in going and checking it out? If so, I will start a new thread. I will probably go just to see it and do a little recon.

I go to reading with the unit I'm in, 9th SS, and have gone for years. Many of our members have done airsoft in the past, it might be a good idea to go to reading. But it's a Hokey gathering in many cases, too.

I was on the road touring when the range was set up so I wasn't there but I loaned weapons for it. Guys manning it were in full on impressions (not just WW2) and the crowds lining up to shoot formed early and it was a very popular booth all weekend. they asked for a $5.00 donation and had many many hundreds of people pay it. targets were plastic juice bottles painted OD positioned on shelves down range. It was an extremely popular booth area and exposed thousands of people that airsoft is much more impressive then the cheap springers they typically see at Walmart.
If a group was all in WW2 impressions with WW2 weapons it would really promote our hobby.

I've been to the Reading air show a couple of times, but I haven't been there in about 4 years. I always enjoyed the flea market the best as you can get some good deals there on uniforms and gear. Finding "hard to find" items there is also a plus. The BF show was nice, but it was exactly that, a show. There are endless amounts of vehicles there as well. From tanks to half tracks to Willies jeeps, etc. very kool. They also had a shooting booth there, where for $10.00 you can shoot either a Thompson, Garand, .30cal or shot gun. My boys (and me) really enjoyed that one.
As far as getting a booth there or just going there in our impressions, I think that's a great idea. If we can find out more, perhaps getting our own booth there, the cost and so forth, I think that would be great. The reason why I haven't been there these past few years is the dates always conflicted with our D-Day events. Perhaps this year we'll try to avoid that.
As far as promoting our hobby at modern events, like Brownien mentioned, we went to GZA a couple of months ago and got completely rained out. Nate stayed and played with the modern guys but the weather was not conducive for display and promotion purposes. What I prepared was a vast display of my collection of weapons, web gear, communications equipment and so forth for players to see, touch and fiddle with. I put together a hand out that is a sort of "how to get started" guide to our hobby and a brief synopsis of what we're all about. I also had (and still have) and 2' x 3' "yard sign" made from the logo I downloaded from this site. So I'm ready to go whenever and where ever we would like do to this.
As far as this upcoming event, hopefully we'll get a decent turnout as I sorely missed the last one. Looking forward to see everyone, old and new.

Ok, I,ll inquire with the event oerganizers about doing this. If its a go with them I would be up for doing it. Sounds like you guys think its a worth while endeavor. I don't have a huge amount of gear to display but I could help set up.

I believe I have been to the Reading show a few years back, just as a spectator. I'd be glad to help setup a display to promote the hobby! One stipulation I think we should have though. If we are going to do a display, I believe each individual should be required to attain the highest level of authenticity, they can. I think the reason why BF guys give us such greif, is because they imagine us all as Flaggrantly Wrong kids running around with medeocre impressions on. I think if we can show up and really make them think "Oh My! These guys really don't mess around! They look as good as us!", then we can really start to see some acceptance and possibly some more BF guys crossing over and doing both. Depending on the date, I can get a couple of friends to come along in my kits. I'm not sure if my BF group (recently joined the 99th ID) will be attending Reading, but either way I should be able to help out!
So far, event wise, I havnt gotten any prepays, which isn't a problem, but it seems like most of the NE guys from the last event will be attending.

I will try to plan ahead to help with this. I have a fair amount of German stuff, which I'd be glad to bring. A shooting booth would be awesome, and I'd be glad to help make that happen.
Perhaps it's time to open a separate thread for this?

I think a separate thread would be wise. Sounds like we can put something together and hopefully we'll be able to do this.
As far as out kits, I think most of us can do a bang up job and be spot on. Especially in the warm months. The best part about doing something at Reading is that not only will be expose our hobby to the BF guys, but the general public as well.
And Nate, I'll be sending you my pre-pay this week. Just making sure my brother-in-law is coming.

Looking forward to seeing you guys again. Migs Yeah… thanks Migs… you know how it goes… get a top management position at work and have a kid in the same year really takes away from my free time for airsoft. Then… I went ahead and joined a volunteer fire company! As if I didn’t even like free time. LOL!! See you on the field… you won’t see me

Great to hear the FJ guys can make it!
I would just like to say, that if anyone would like to chip in with me for an order of explosive/smoke grenades, I'd like to place an order by the end of this month. I know last event, grenades kills were numerous in the gameplay. Let's keep it up! I think it adds a lot to the immersion and offers variety to your options to take out opponents.
