I think it would be a cooler feature to have especially if you have a second inner barrel/hopup ready. That way, if one gets jammed in the field, instead of needing to field strip and fix,it would be much easier to swap to a new barrel

I agree that once these MGs become more commonplace something should be implemented to simulate barrel changes ammo box swaps. With its incredible zipper like rate of fire the german MG like all MGs was best fired in short bursts other wise the barrels quickly got ruined rendering the gun ineffective. So far I have not been impressed with their reliability but I expect that to change with later versions and upgrades that will surely follow.

Here a little durability reports on the Matrix MG42, I've been using it for three consecutive game now and dropped at least 4k of bbs through it. I'm actually impress with it still. I dropped it twice today while being chase and bump it into a tree once, all that was damage is the paint chipping off on the charging handle. And the bipod. No additional damage occurs, though it occurs to me while moving through the woods that I should tape up the magazine connector. I also discover that despite its weighting less than a real mg it's a chores to run with it.
On to more pressing report, thanks to the long barrel and the replacement hop up nub, I was able to get over 30 confirm kills today game at 180ft+ ranges. All the hit players were my friends that I've known for years. So far, I am personally happy with the mg. It has proven practical at least for my team. I'll try to keep more updates should anything else come up. I will so try to update in a few months on the gun status.

This is most helpful. Thus far yours is the first fully encouraging report. Three others I am aware of didn't make it through the first days use which is very worrisome. The operators seem responsible and there was only one case where the gun was being operated by someone other than the owner (usually not a good idea). One thing I have noticed that makes me crazy. When an airsoft gun shows early signs of something being off. (fails to feed, gives off funny sounds, shoots erratically) these things almost never remedy themslves by continuing to be fired. (The tube feeds do however need to be primed for a while on box mags) otherwise continuing to fire frequently turns a minor, easily resolved issue into a major repair.
If you borrow someones AEG and you sense something is "off" STOP SHOOTING IT! Lets hope as these MG 42s continue to arrive their reliability improves. This often happens with new offerings.
