1800? Lol. For only a tiny bit more, you can get a Shoei AEG or Escort version with the advanced engine. Ill pass on the G&G.

I seriously, seriously hope its not that much when it comes out here in the States. $700? Sure, I'll do it. $900 or a $1000? I'll save up bit. $1800? I can't even....

A part of me is pleased to see crew served weapons priced more expensively than everyday soldiers weapons but at $600 or so they would show up in reasonable numbers. At $1800 they won't show up at all at least not with the folks I play with!

And that's pushing it, I got to touch it all over and it's a very nice Airsoft toy. But they (G&G) think people (customers) have that disposable income, if you look at premium products like the limited addition Gold AKM and proprietary AK magazines. They are leaning towards to be in the premium bracket, but would anyone consider G&G a high end brand?
do any of you here know any reenactor(s) that would seriously consider owning this?

Given how applesauce the $1800 LCT M60 is, I have very low hopes of this being either good or ever seen on a field near me.

youtu.be/Gkqk63Ts758If the G&G was an absolutely perfect replica of the original MG-42, featuring authentic Wehrmacht markings and whatnot, I could possibly see a market for it in Europe and Asia as a stand-in for a real/ deactivated MG-42 in serious reenactment groups. It's got some nice features, I do like the mostly steel construction, and the "functioning" charging handle. The gearbox design seems neat as well. However, I'm not a fan of it's magazine. An always-on electric box mag? No thanks. Plus, I could get three of the China-made MG-42s for the price of one G&G. I've heard the China mades have some problems, but I can't imagine them being significant enough to justify paying $1200 more the the G&G. I like airsoft as much as the next guy, but if I'm dropping over 1K on a gun, it's going "bang", not "pew". My friend and I did a little math recently, and for not much more money than the G&G MG42 we could build a semi-auto M1919 out of a surplus parts kit and new semi auto right plate.

Redwolf gives it their seal of approval and the accuracy of this seems pretty damned good.
But, ugh, this pricing is insane. For this price, I can throw together a lot of extremely good loaner kits together: wools, canteens, steel helmets, etc etc.
In all fairness though, the higher one thing costs, the more its going to go down with discounts. 25% off will mean $450 off of this. I know, this is granted that G&G doesn't have a MAP (which I don't think it does), but that would bring it down to $1350. Still higher than $1000, but significantly cheaper.

G&G do have a MAP, their M1 Garand has it as well as practically all their other guns.
I can prolly garuntee if evike stocks it and their inventory sits fairly static for a year the price will be cut significantly, but albet not enough to still justify the gun.

Sadly after 20 years in this hobby I haven't consistently seen a correlation between high price and quality or effectiveness. Some of my favorite guns have been among my cheapest and some of my disasters have been among my most costly.

I have to agree with that as well, and I've only been into airsofting for 3-4 years now.... Its rather surprisingly TBH.
One can spend 200 bucks and get a lemon, while these $40 M1 Carbine are freaking magical. It makes you think what is making this MG42 worth $1800...

Redwolf gives it their seal of approval and the accuracy of this seems pretty damned good. Ever seen a retailer give an actual review rather than the advertorials they roll out in the guise of reviews?
