This is my buddy Insterberger's Build, he can tell you all about how he did it. I was very impressed with the performance of this weapon it was key to our strategy of preventing the Ami's from crossing Remagen Bridge in one of our skirmishes. I was really amazed at how well it worked and it can really shoot a Nerf with a lot of velocity. You can see it taking off out of the mortar pretty fast, and I think the range is about 400 ft. As a shoulder held weapon like a Panzerschreck or Bazooka, which is what he origanlly intended the design for it has great potential. Just for fun at the end of the game we all stood in a row and let Mark shoot us just to see how it would feel if hit. Needless to say it packs a bit of a punch at 30 yards and could be devestating to vehicles or destroy emplacements with just a carefully aimed shot.
I hope someone has a video of that, Id like to see it.
Mark i cant wait for the schreck model. One thing we decided about it was to paint the rounds bright yellow or red, so they are easier to see. I think other improvements could be a streamer of red tape or a tail about 10' long for visability and so people couldnt contest being hit in the 10' kill zone nerfs are supposed to have. and another cool thing I thought of was to rig each round with a whistle so those being shelled will know its coming and build up the anticipation effect of the weapon. We also decided a bit of weight would be a good thing for the rounds helping them not to get taken by the wind. That was a bit of an issue as the wind picked up during the battle.
I will vouch for it being very effective during combat. It made the bridge a dicey place to be for the Americans to try and hold because that was our kill zone. The center of the bridge was about 250ft from where our mortar emplacement was and he had the mortar zeroed in on it. Mark only had a small window between a couple of large pines to shoot through as it was set up in the woods near the objective. He hit the bridge dead on several times incurring a few kills. The wind got some of the rounds and took them off target.
Im sure there will be many improvements in this design as we employ it throughout the summer. It was a quicky, but for a fast get-it-done type project it was well worth the time, and I hope to see more of these at events being used in action by both sides.
