About 4 months ago, I had a less than perfect experience with the Iron Airsoft Lee enfield no.1 mk.3. It had some real issues that I think should be identified on this forum so here we go...
To start off, it worked relatively well when it first came. The finish was more of a red color than the original rifle was, but no big deal. The entire rifle was covered in this grease, and they might have put that on the bolt, just to keep it from getting screwed up or something? But it wasn't just the bolt. It was on the ENTIRE thing. The stock, the sights, everything. So after I wiped all that off, I went to shoot the thing. Our first problem arose there...
When I first shot it, nothing bad really happened. But after reloading a few times, I found that the magazine spring was sticky. I put some silicone oil on it, and that didn't help at all. Now this isn't your average, give-it-a-tap-and-its-fixed stuck magazine, this was a slam-the-thing-on-a-table-out-of-rage kind of thing. I even tried using a stick to unjam the damn thing. Eventually, after lots of swearing and anger, I got the magazine spring to pop back up. The real problem was that there was no little tab that you pull down when you load it, so I was just stuck looking down the magazine with a flashlight. That did happen a few more times, but how I got the spring unjammed is a mystery. I think after I slapped it for the thousandth time it might have popped back up. However, the problems continued...
I think it was the third day I had the thing. I went outside to shoot it. I pull the bolt back and *BAM* the bolt pulls right out of the gun. You should have seen me. It was like when Sam Kinison yelled at that girl about the Vietnam War in "Back to school", for all who have seen that movie. I promise you, I did not pull back too hard on the bolt. It just pulled out, with a little piece of metal. I tried to get the bolt back in, and I even resorted to the instruction manual, which may have shown you how to load and shoot the gun.
I later sent the gun back to Evike, where they sent me a new one rather quickly.
The new Lee enfield arives on my door step and I was ready to give this thing a second chance. I took it out of the packaging, and I try to pull the bolt back. The thing doesn't budge. I try the only lever thing on the rifle (the safety) and still nothing happens. A piece of wood was also chipped out of the stock, but I was willing to super glue it back in if this gun was going to work for me. But it didn't. But before I wrap up, there was just one last problem with the product that I forgot the mention.
THE SAFETY. A pretty simple concept that comes standard on every airsoft gun I've ever seen, with the exception of the AGM Sten. Whoever designed this rifle screwed that up too. So you have the gun cocked and ready to fire, and you put on the safety. Wait a minute, you can still pull the trigger. You pull the trigger. Nothing happens. You take the gun off safety. The gun shoots without you pulling the trigger. AND you can still work the bolt with the safety on. The bottom line is, once you pull the trigger with the safety on, it won't shoot that BB until you take it off of safety. It then immediately shoots the BB it would have shot, had you not had the safety on.
So after reading this, I'm sure you all can understand how wonderfully awful this thing is. It works if you never plan on shooting it, EVER, but in that case, wouldn't you just buy the DENIX Lee Enfield? So just don't buy this gun. Please. I wrote this entire thing and spell checked it to save you from the pain I experienced.
