My parents had the identical projector when I was kid. To my knowledge they still do, and I wouldn't be surprised if it's in working condition. Theirs was on a heavy metal base with a clip-on art-deco(ish) hard platic cover.
Spool up some 8mm and report back on yours!

My brother in law found that same projector when my wifes parents passed along with a lot of film from way back when including some pre war footage.. Very very cool

I always thought it would be fun at an event to show a popular period film or training films at an event in the evening. It would especially cool in a GP medium tent or appropriate setting.

I know we had a few 8mm shorts cut from Charlie Chaplin films when I was a kid, which were well before WWII but being regularly re-issued up through forever (ours were probably prints from the 50's) as well as some other miscellaneous commercial travelogues, etc. Next time I'm back home I'll take a look and see what I can find.
