I've heard of these being used before. Somebody(2nd Bat? Big Ed?) has mentioned these being used in mortars. I think they would be awesome as mortar rounds.

I have indeed used them in the past but Hasbro doscpntinued them and they have been difficult to source. I have perhaps 20 of them but as you might imagine at every event that number dwindles. The whistle is very cool.

I saw a panzerfaust that shot these once. Someone fired it at my friend and he actually caught it lol

Generally these foam rockets are fired indirectly when used against troops and only fired horizontally at vehicles. They are extremely powerful at the muzzle. I once shot one of my home made (ball valve, co2 powered launchers) at an interior (hollow wood) door and it stuck in the door! Quite powerful and dangerous really. At a 30degree angle they fly about 3 football fields so very good range. When plunging down no real safety issues. Without the whistles they are too easy to not recognize as having landed near you. I have been trying to figure out how to attach a noise device that wouldn't hinder the flight and would remain in place as the nerf football rockets are still available. (these are the smaller 3 inch guys)

Really?! He's lucky he caught it then. Maybe it fired some other type of nerf football, I remembered the whistling sound so I assumed it was one of these.

The small pocket whistler footballs can still be found on eBay. They are made by another company now and not Nerf. link
Click on that link, it should take you to the eBay page where they are offered for $12.

2nd bat, you've used these before, what kind of rate of fire do you typically get out of a mortar with these?
