I just contacted the Ontario WW2 group about a few of us going up to their game in September on the 19-21st. Its in Spencerville Ontario, just a few mile over the border from Ogdensburg NY. Kinda out near Fort Drum. The event organizer said there would be loaner weapons available if any one wanted to go. Bringing airsoft guns over the border is not a good idea these days. I suggested that we could fill medic roles too if they need it. I wouldnt mind doing a Wehrmacht medic impression for this event. Here is the link to the event: OPERATION WOODSMAN
Here is a link to the Airsoft Canada WW2 Forum www.airsoftcanada.com/forumdisplay.php?f=95If anyone other than those in my unit who want to go let us know, may be we can carpool.

Oh, and by the way, if you want to cross into Canada to go to this event, you need a passport. Or enhanced drivers license. I made this mistake last winter when I wanted to go on a ski trip in Quebec. It was two days before I was supposed to leave and I realized that I was issued the non enhanced drivers license and couldnt use it to cross the border. Bad mistake. I had to drive 2 hours to a expedite service and pay $260 to get my passport processed in 3 hours. Using normal channels it cost about $60 and takes 2-3 weeks to process. But I was able to get it and go skiing.

I'd really like to go! If I go up with Nord-Ost, I'll kit out in Heer.
I don't mind loaner guns, but I may look a bit deeper into Canadian and US customs to see if there are any real 'loopholes' to safely move airsoft guns across the boarders either way. I heard there may be a way to do so with proper documentation and calling ahead, and something about having a unique serial number on the receiver.

Sounds good Brownian, look in to it. We would be crossing at a smaller crossing so doing the proper documentation and calling ahead so they know what is going on may work. It's getting back in to the US where I usually run in to problems. Make sure you contact both customs agencies to find out their rules and regulations. I may just not bother with the hassle of being searched and stuff and just use loner guns, or go as a medic.

for my events in the Seattle Area when foreign participants come. We've had folks from Spain, Canada, Sweden and Argentina, we always provide loaner guns. frankly I think the potential hassle otherwise just isn't worth it. Even with every T crossed and i dotted you risk a local official not being properly informed. Murphys law is very applicable when it comes to border crossings.

Hey, I'm thinking about doing this, but I will need a ride to and from Ogdensburg... anyone willing to coordinate?

Hey, I'm thinking about doing this, but I will need a ride to and from Ogdensburg... anyone willing to coordinate? where are you located? I live in Boston, but my plan is to take a plane to Ogdensburg and then bum a ride across the border from there, but the bumming a ride part hasn't been cutting the mustard yet.

Just curious if any of you folks are planning to attend Woodsman. Attendance is expected to be at 40 or more participants.

I'm not going to be able to make it after all. My wife is working this weekend and I have to watch my kids who are too little to leave home alone. Its the plight of being a young father, eventually and hopefully they will be able to go with me to these reenactments so the problem will be solved. Or my wife gets a normal job that is 9 to 5 on weekdays.

Hopefully folks will still be able to make this. I find reciprocity in attending events. Attending others events often get some additional participants at your own. It would be great to get some Canadians down for our events. They are usually quite enthusiastic and typically do a fine job on their impressions and ambiance.
