Will an m1a scope mount fit on a m1 garand, and if not what will?

An M1A scope mount will not fit, as it will prevent loading and ejecting of clips. An M1C or D scope mount will fit, those these are very expensive, especially if you add a period correct scope.

The M1a mount is designed for the mag fed M14 series reciever, which sits right above the bolt. The M1C and M1D mounts sit just to the left of the reciever to allow an enbloc of ammo to be inserted from above. I suppose for an M14/M1 conversion you could use a M1a mount, and you could mod the ICS M1 receiver to accept the M1a mount, but it'll look wonky as heck

The Garand M1C sniper version used the M84 mount a leather cheek pad and a cone typre flash supressor and was shown in the TO&E of late War Us Army Infantry units however there is great debate as to whether any were fielded in the ETO. The Korean war was really the first conflict where they saw much action. If you want a sniper impression for the US Army go with an M1903A4.

Exactly. If you are doing a PTO impression (late war), for like the Phillipines or Okinawa, then you will probably be able to get away with it. However, if you are doing ETO, as most of us are, then just use a Springfield.

I'd like a sdope mount more than a scope mount.

I did a number of my Garand conversions as M1Cs at the request of specific buyers and the added details were quite expensive even with the cheapest reproduction and original items I could find. The M1C muzzle flash cones were around $65.00 at gun shows, cheek pads were $15.00 and the reproduction M84 mounts were $120.00. I managed to find some decent 3x weaver scopes for typiclly around $60.00 also at gun shows. Together all the needed items raised the price of a conversion by $200 to $300.00 which made for total prices close to $1,000.00. I sold three of them done up that way and always planned to keep one for myself but didn't.
Once AEG M1 Garands become more commonplace. (GnG whats taking you so long?)it would be cool to see either GnG or ICS offer a limited edition M1C. They were a neat looking variant and would be appropriate for very late war, korean war and Vietnam. Obviously be creating the parts for volume production the premium for an M1C wouldn't be nearly that expensive.

Anxiously awaiting it's release. Expected it would be way later then originaly announced but NOT THIS slow in coming. Hopefully it will prove to be worth the wait.
