I will be there myself, along with those four local guys I'll be kitting out. I have another 2 most likely coming as well. We will be utilizing my M1's and one guy on my BAR for squad support. If I get my mortar done by then, I may bring it as well. I will bring my bc1000 for one guy to wear and use along with the bc611. If I can find a long enough spool of correctish looking comm wire, I may bring my 2 field phones to use as well if we defend any objectives. I did message and sent a link to Raimund on his FJ group page, and he may be able to get a group together, but no further updates there That sounds good. I'll bring my radio and I may buy a BAR or the ZB26 (Bren Gun's Cousin) to bring along as well. They did mention on the site that 1 SAW gun for every 5 riflemen works. So that would probably be OK.

Nate,
Unless something crazy happens I should be able to be there. We can talk, but I will bring some extra gear and weapons so that we can kit out a few of your guys as Axis, especially if Rai and his group can't come. I think it is a MUCH better promotion of the hobby to have a decent mix of Allied and Axis troops working together for as much of the weekend as possible. Honestly, anything less will work against us in the long run.
I'd be happy to field the MG42 if you think it might be a more effective support weapon than the BAR (it certainly does better on magazine capacity), and will be glad to bring any other resources to bear that will assist the cause. Let me know what you need.

That would be great Insterberger. If we can get a balanced force of Germans and US, each sub squad with their own SAW type weapon, we could try to use each sides methods and tactics authentically to good effect. Plus too, having backup weapons is always a good plan! Wouldn't want to be even more outgunned if the SAW gun goes down with no backup route!

Awesome. As you know, I have enough spare gear and weaponry that I could literally outfit an entire squad if need be.
Truth be told, US and German squad tactics were nearly identical. The major difference was that for GIs the riflemen were the primary fire force and the SAW provided covering fire, while for the Germans the riflemen were there essentially to protect the MG42, which was the main killing machine. Because of the realities of airsoft, both squads will realistically be running practically identical hybrid tactics. That should be good if the comings and goings of players over the weekend require guys to move from one uniform to the other.

How should we go about filling out the registration fields for this? I take it we all want to be on the same side. I'm assuming there will be an opportunity during checkout to provide notes saying we will operate as a single WWII team, but would like to get at least the team name right, be it "The Mountain" or "The Coalition."

I havnt signed up myself yet, but when I do, I'll be signing up as Coalition. We don't have to worry about signing up as a squad, we can sign up individually, just as long as we conform to the squad structure once on the field.

Notice to all:
The event organizer has moved up the pre-registration cutoff to TONIGHT at midnight.

Thanks for the heads up.
The one issue I'm seeing-- and it's a major one-- is the demand that uniforms be green based/tan based by team. If the US forces gear up as predominantly tan, the Germans are going to be more on the green side than the tan side, which would preclude unified WW2 Airsoft team play and pretty much defeat the purpose of having a combined force present.
Don't honesty know what to do at this point. With no guarantees of even being able to field a German squad (and meager profit for the hobby from a one-off German showing up if we can't), I'm at least not going to rush to pre-register until something workable comes to mind.

I talked to the event host about uniform requirements per side, and came to a conclusion for the Germans. For the standard wool uniform, and any camo pattern utilized that isn't mostly tan/brown in appearance, an armband will be required to be worn. I will be making up some tan armbands with Coalition written on them to denote our siding. If you guys want, I can make up enough for all of us to wear so we all look uniform as a squad.

I am going to have to pass on this event, unfortunately. My father recently had back surgery and a heart attack at the same time and is recovering at his home in Maine. I need to go up there and help him winterize his home and get firewood stacked and the weekend of the event is the only time I can take the kids up there and go help. Im sad to miss this chance to fight with you guys as a team but family is first. Hopefully we will get another chance soon.

Just went on weather.com. Weather not looking good this weekend. www.weather.com/weather/weekend/12123I'll keep monitoring it, but if the forecast stays the same as of Thursday, I'm gonna sit this one out. Disappointed

A little drizzle won't stop me, but a downpour most certainly would.
Unfortunately, I have a completely different development that may keep me away: My son was sent home sick from school with flu symptoms, aches and pains, and a fever. Hoping it's not the dreaded enterovirus, and also hoping that whatever it is the rest of the family (myself included) doesn't come down with it.
Will be monitoring the situation, but whether I'm able to make it or not may very well be a last-minute call.

Yes Mark, I feel the same way, but it does look like the weather will not cooperate for us this weekend. I too have a issue that may also keep me from attending. Right now I'm 50/50.

Migs-- just for the record, I wasn't insinuating that a drizzle would keep you off the field, just putting a fine point on where I would be weatherwise.
My girls are acting cranky and tired tonight, hoping it's not the early signs of whatever my son has. Not much I can do about it either way, things will be what they'll be. Will advise.

No worries Mark. Never thought that. Just pissed that the weather is not looking good. My two boys play ice hockey and they may have a conflict this Saturday. They originally had a game scheduled for Saturday, but with Yom Kippur this weekend, the game may get changed. So I'm hoping for a game change and good weather. I thought the game change would be a no brainer, especially here on Long Island, but if the league doesn't change the game, I can't make it as I'm also the coach. I should know more by tomorrow night. Fingers crossed. Migs

Sorry to say me and the boys will not be able to make this one. Their game was not changed, so there's no way we can attend. I've also looked at the weather again and Saturday is not looking to good. Kudo's to those who make the trek. Perhaps we'll give it another go at the next event they have. On a separate not, the site we used to get the ball and German stick Grenades from has changed there URL. Here's the new link: www.customlogoprint.com/collections/paintballI just order a boat load of both the ball and German grenades. You never know if these things will just be outlawed one of these days. And you all know how much I love Grenade kills!! I'm also thinking about negotiating with Ground Zero to try and host another event there again. I'm gonna start a new thread in a day or two and state what my thoughts are on this and the parameters of the possible event. Stay tuned, Migs

My arse has been kicked-- hard-- by whatever bug hit my son. I staggered through the morning, but since then I've developed absolutely miserable cold symptoms and chills, though no apparent fever (yet). Either way, in absolutely no shape to attend.
As Migs said, we should be prepared to hit one of their events again in the future, and keep looking for more ways to promote the hobby.
Nate, have a great time. Since Axis is our greatest shortage area (and getting forces into balance should be a priority), feel free to encourage anyone who seems inclined that way to reach out to Jerry or myself, we will be glad to help them out and into the hobby. Apologies again that I can't be there myself this time, but I'm just miserably sick, not much I can do about that.

Brownian, I was wondering if you or anyone ended up going to this event and if so how did its go? I know Saterday was a total wash out up here. Hope you faired better down there, but it looked like rain all over the north east. Hopefully the next one will be soon and dry!
