Thats a cool find. The gearbox layout looks promising for an FJ 42!

Dunno if the Sterling SMG really qualifies as a wwii weapon considering zero to one hundred and twenty may or have may not seen operational service during the second world war.

i agree, it is questionable as to whether it saw service during the war. Cool none the less.

I'd say if you are doing a late-war airborne unit (according to the wikipedia article on it), it would work, but other than that, not at all.

The more I look at this, the more I see it as an eminently good base for a FG42 build. One potential way to deal with the magazine would be to make modifications so that it could accept M14 mags, which are plenty close enough in appearance to the FG42 ones. Another method could be to build out fake sidewalls around the existing Sterling magazine, which would solve the problem of having to modify the mag interface.
Either way, an interesting project. If I didn't have six other builds waiting around half done, I'd be all over it!

I am most excited about this as an FJ base. I have found that modifying the appearance of magazines is much more successful than trying to modify the feed inlet. The angle and size of the pistol grip and the small size of this gun is very promising as the FJ 42 was quite tiny.

I'm going to see if I can get a couple of cut-off scrap pieces of LVL from some contractors I know. I think if those were carved down into stock pieces they would look quite similar to the laminates used by the Germans in WWII.
