Thanks, given that these cost well under $50.00 to make they end up being a great value. There was a time when I would see projects like this and think, "I wish I could make something like that!". As it turns out all it took was some materials, some thought and some time. I am real happy with these. unlike the real M1A1s that have cool mechanisms for folding the stocks. These are firmly in place with a couple vertical screws. With them removed the stock can be folded. Not ideal of course but perfectly acceptable to me. Replica stocks are available but I'm way too cheap to step up to buy one and easy folding for me is not critical.

I did up three of these and sold one on EBAY which brought $165.00 plus shipping. in addition I did an M2 para version for Namsofting.
To fund other projects and to keep these in the community I would be willing to sell another. My asking price with one modified 25 round magazine is $125.00 plus shipping. You can choose from either of the rifles shown above. Follow the tutorial to see the work involved which is considerable. Spare sortened magazines are 7.00 each IF bought with a rifle. Many on hand. Yes I am makng money on these over and above the $50.00 or so dollars in materials. I have clearly illustrated how to go about the project yourself and if you think I am unreasonable to profit $75.00 for my considerable labor in making these please don't bitch to me about it and make your own. If you don't have the money to buy one I understand but really can't help you beyond this offer. Take a part time job at a fast food place and in less time than it would take to make your own you could buy one and still have gas money!
The $7.00 offer on spare shortened magazines is for anyone buying one of my conversions (either the regular M1s or the M1A1s). I am not interested in selling individual shortened clips!

Some recent expressed interest in these from a couple new members. I don't have any available for sale over and above my rental needs and what they can bring dollar wise vs the build time required doesn't justify doing any up to sell. The best approach (as is always the case IMO) is do the modification yourself. It's not hard as can be seen from the tutorial but it does require some tools, a work area and lots of spare time.
Good luck with it. You'll take a lot of joy out of fielding a weapon you made yourself. These are cheap enough that you aren't risking much!

I had a PM asking specifically about converting the carbine springers into paratrooper variants so of course I directed him to this thread. As I walked back through it myself I thought an update might be worthwhile. I ultimately made 4 of these. I sold 2 remotely to people outside the country and to me knowledge they are still working fine. I sold a 3rd one to a local player and see him regularly at events so I know it is still working great. It is his primary weapon at WW2 and Nam events and he does well with it. I kept one for myself and the only damage was my fabricated rear site broke but that was a easy repair. When ever the Cyma magazines go on sa!e I buy them and convert them to smaller box magazines. I would guess I have converted several hundred of these magazines and sold most of then in 3 magazine combat packs. I issue the normal carbines as a $15.00 rental and include 3 magazines and a speed loader with the angle feed adapter. Sales and rentals have funded my projects and allowed me to create the costume department and armory to conduct and sponsor quality events.

An update on an old thread. 1 kept one of these conversions (The one with the two pocket carbine pouch) and sold off the other 3. Two of them sold to local players so its almost like I still have visitation rights. In addition to the M1A1 conversion I still have 3 of the original batch of carbines I acquired over 9 years ago!
All have been extensively used and all continue to work flawlessly. No misfeeds, no sticky triggers or slam fires. They remain the best airsoft bargain out there. I notice like all things airsoft they have crept up in price and now seem to be around $50.00 with the 40 round banana magazines around 6 or $7.00. The cheapest they ever were for me was $23.75 in half cartons of six at a time. Briefly I could buy spare magazines at $1.75 each! Even at these Current higher prices I wouldnt hesitate to recommend them. Ultimately I purchased over 2 dozen of them most of which I modified to "WW2" M1s and inevitably sold most of them. To my knowledge everyones experience has been like mine and they are continuing to function fine. Most required a good barrel cleaning and. Rubber bands stuffed down between the inner and outer barrel to eliminate barrel wobble but otherwise they have been great out of the box. Crazy the nearly 10 years later and having bought and sold almost two dozen I am looking to again buy a few more. It seems having a half dozen of these along with a half dozen + of my recent converted UKARMs M14s to M1s is the sweet spot for loaners/ rentals. If my UKARMs M14 springer conversion perform as well and as long as these I will be thrilled!

At a recent indoor WW2 special event virtually every player (22 players) were armed with either the carbine or M14 to M1 springers. 4 players had plastic gear box thompsons (about 260 FPS) and there were a couple springer shotguns. The event was a blast. I provided costumes web gear and weapons for most of the players. No damage or lost items in a long day of gameplay. Always a pleasant surprise. Lots of new players introduced to the joys of WW2 Airsoft.

Springer/crappy guns games are some of my most fun airsoft memories. Sounds like a blast!

I agree. Way less ego (and painful hits) with manuever, team work and communication. I love mostly springer and semi auto games. Limited ammo and only a few full auto guns with low cap magazines.

The owner of Tacoma Tactical has bought acreage with mixed forest and open terrain near Puyuallup (about 70 miles fromm me. He has plans to create a mini Normandy venue using the Brecore Manor layout from Call of Duty to become a destination airsoft field with the intent to host 4 big games a year. Naturally I will do all I can do to support it. We made a full sized replica 105 German howitzer and he is prepared to dig trenches and build convincing (downscale) hollywood like structures. Together back in the day he and I put on some big. wW2 events. Glad to see his passion for it reinvigorated.

Wow. Thank you for posting that. It show (left to right) a Cyma Springer M2 carbine modified to simulate a M1A1 "paratrooper" carbine an M2 modified to look like a WW2 M1 carbine a CYMA M14 springer modified to a springer M1 Garand and my first Garand springer M14 to M1 which I made using a somewhat undersized DE M14 hence its smaller than correct scale. I now have 10 Springer Garands and 6 modified carbines. I had more but sold some off to fund the armory. They really are fun plinkers. The German 105mm howitzer is about 3/4 scale (still quite large) and came out great. I am going to make a couple more to simulate an almost full battery of howitzers. They are almost entirely ABS plastic so they can be stored outside.
