I was at Shot Show this year and it was quite the trip, G&G won my interest out of all that was there. I have photos up on my Facebook, but by now it's all available online on news sites and such. The Liao siblings who run G&G for the father were all there for the show, right now this week all of them are in Germany for the IWA show which is the equal for Euorpe. Amanda Liao is the US face of G&G, you will find her smiling a lot on Facebook and posting about her travels and anything G&G of course.
Now to my understanding, she is a genuinely nice person but she was rather rude and standoffish so maybe she had a bad day because it is a hectic show. I had my media badge for airsoft, so you would think she would oblige. Her older brother who is in charge of Taiwan was there responding to my questions in fluent English that his sister would translate into their native tongue was rather odd. It was rather tense with the look on her face.
But anyway, onto the gun. It was very impressive, hefty, and well thought out. There was no fear of me manhandling it at all, even though I own 5 Shoei guns (2 MG-42's) I will still purchase this G&G model. I really liked the quick change barrel function, it's open up the receiver cover and there is a release button to undock the inner barrel ( where the feed tray would lay). The rest is how the real world model swaps barrels, and of course they will sell spare outter barrels so you can swap special inner's or wide bores. The charging handle has some proper resistance, even slightly caught. If anyone ever used a Shoei model, it was very familiar. The Brother did try to give it a bit of a tap to slam the receiver cover shut but it wouldn't budge and I slide it forward for him.
The '03 Springfield did have a great bolt rack, it was top heavy though with the glass mounted on. It was convincing enough to make me want to do a US impression.
Now, shot show since it's so early in every year it's the first time a company gets to show off anything. Last year the MG was just a poster, now I have something to finger bang. I got down to number questions and Ms. Liao then answered all that. Price is $750 with release date of summer, but mere days after I land back from shot. I see online from G&G rep saying realease date is Nov., so grain of salt et al.
I am just glad there is more interest, funny how there is a lack of players (compare to the modern Airsoft) but more interest from manufactures. Kwa also did NOT have their gas mp40 on display and wouldn't talk about it. But I most also say ICS is interested in continuing WW2 guns, I wish I could speculate on what. But with their m1 out, to save on cost what other model could the internals fit? So I hope for a G43 or an SVT-40. So we'll see next years shot show.

Nice report. It sounds impressive. At $750.00 they won't be overly abundant on our WW2 Airsoft fields.

I just hope the price stays true unlike the release date.

IWA, an airsoft expo in Germany, featured a G&G booth that had an MG42. In this video, they go over a ton of the features. www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZFJZwxwIZsWith that QD barrel and gearbox, this thing looks sweet!
