Ah, Dirlewanger... like putting Charles Manson in charge of a military unit, then manning it with every Jeffrey Dahmer, Ed Gein, and John Wayne Gacy in the country, releasing them into occupied territory, and making it very clear there will be no consequences for their actions, so go have fun. Not only among the most disgusting of sociopathic criminal atrocities to come out of WWII, but arguably some of the worst in history.
I only hope the reports of him getting beaten to death by his guards were true. Even that is better than he deserved.
Frankly, if an SS-Mann wearing Heer camo even hinted at the suggestion of a whiff of a possibility of being confused for a member of the Dirlewanger unit, that would be sufficient reason to avoid it at all costs as far as I'm concerned.

The Australians were using a camouflage pattern somewhat similar to the "Duckhunter" or "Frogskin pattern used by the US in the Pacific. I understand they're switching over to a version of Multicam like the UK has (Multi-Terrain Pattern?)
The Israelis, as far as I can tell from many pictures on the Internet, mostly use some shade of OD or OG. I've seldom seen pics of the IDF in camouflage. Given their combat experience they must feel a solid color works well enough for their conditions.

My understanding is that after he was captured he was turned over to some Polish guards. Whether by design or accident is unknown. The outcome was predictable.

It did happen albeit extremely rare and probably limited to officers I have seen a 2 photos of a panzer officer in a custom made plane tree camo tunic from probably the 42-44 time frame and one officer wearing a dot 44 tunic with a heer breast eagle although he probably came across it from a storehouse that was going to be overrun on the retreat. But bear in mind this is but 2 examples that I've found over the millions that served. I can find the photos if you like.
