Were the rigger-added cargo pockets on M43 trousers for airborne troops UNIVERSAL? Or was it like M42 reinforcing where some troops got it done while others didn't? I'm planning on getting a set of M43s for late-war airborne and infantry, and I'd prefer not to buy two pairs of pants if I don't have to.

Most airborne had the rigger pouches on the m1943's. But around the battle of bulge where some of the airborne were first issued the m1943's you see lots of variants of different uniforms.
