The cheapest size 64 stahl helm I could find was an original one from Finland (115 usd). All the repros I found ranged from 50-80,but were a size 68. Any help would be appreciated.

Size 64 helms are not rare at all. Go to germanhelmetsinc.com and get yourself an original M42 (but the post said 35/40) shell for $100.

100$ the cheapest the site has that fits me is a m42 size 64 for 199$. If i were to get an original it would be this one (115$) www.ww2gear.com/p-16371-german-m40-finnish-contract-wwii-type-original-helmet-26-300445.aspx but this is from a seller I have not heard of yet. I would get it but I fear that I would scuff and damage the helmet lowering its value ( a 60$ helmet is easier to replace than a 115$ one). What is the benefit of getting an original besides bragging rights, potentially better quality, and 100% correct shape (May not be the case because the helmet may have minor dents.)? Do you know of a seller who is cheaper? Also what size liner should i get? I wear a 7 1/8 in snowboarding helmet with room to jiggle (i think my head is 22.5 in instead of 23in). Since I'm only 16 years old should i get a size 7 1/4 to compensate for growth or will this be too big?

As I stated before, go to www.germanhelmetsinc.com. You can find 64cm M42 shells for $100 a pop. Now you need to get a correct liner and split pin set, however it's still a good price for an original shell
