atthefrontshop.com If you're smallish though, sometimes you can find originals on ebay for less than the cost of a good repro. Depending on your climate, I would get: M41 jacket M37 wool shirt and pants M1 helmet M38 leggings M37 BAR belt M1910 canteen w/ cup and cover Roughout boots M1928 haversack If you want to do airborne, it's a different story.

What you will need will vary somewhat depending on if you're planning to do a GI or a Marine, what theater and time frame you wish to represent. The only unique items would be a BAR belt, perhaps a BAR bandoleers or two and a BAR leather accessory pouch otherwise all the normal uniform and web gear items which you can source from eBay, At The Front (or other suppliers) or gun shows or members from this site.

You could get away without the haversack unless you're doing a prolonged event or you want something period to carry all your stuff.
don't forget suspenders, if you fill the bar belt completely, that thing is going to be sagging down without the suspenders

Be mindful of the fact that you typically get what you pay for and this is especially true for US web gear. I see on EBay a wide selection of BAR belts with magazine pouches at widely assorted prices. The originals in minty condition (especially in Khaki) can be very spendy. The China and India reproductions are priced real low but the fabric used and hardware are pretty flimsy.
I would rather go with a tattered original than new, poorly done reproduction. What airsoft BAR are you going with?

Im thinking either the Matrix BAR or Echo1, i heard the echo1 has magazine feeding problems, but i kinda like the grayish looking paint on the Matrix BAR. www.evike.com/products/32345/ here link if you wanna see. but does anyone reccommend which one i should get?

I really think the Matrix and Echo1 are one and the same gun with just slightly different markings. Whichever one is less money would be my recommendation. I have the Echo1 and have been pleased with it. Side by side with a Matrix I couldn't distinguish the two but I didn't break them both down to check internals
I converted all my high caps to mid caps following the tutorials on this site and have had no feeding issues whatsoever.

I think they are the same gun rebranded, though the Echo1 version has crappy laser-engraved trademarks that are not of a wartime manufacturer. Both use the same magazines, so you can expect some feeding troubles with either (both use high-caps.) There's a tutorial on this site that shows you how to convert them to mid-caps, though.

Yes, the magazines are the problem. If converted to midcaps, both versions will feed fine.

thanks everyone for your inputs. i still dont know which one i rather get. I do agree that the trades on the echo1 are stupid and annoying, and the only writing on the matrix one is the Made in china on the side.

At The Front's stuff is practically identical to original gear with the exception that it is made 70 years later; it's expensive, but you won't get better quality for a sane price. There are cheaper vendors out there, such as Man The Line, What Price Glory, and Chinese vendors, but as 2nd Bat said, here, you get what you pay for. Buy once, cry once. A package would allow you to get everything for a discounted rate, but you don't NEED everything at once. It's ok to go piece by piece, as it's less cruel to the wallet; I slowly built my impression (US D-Day paratrooper) for 2 years, getting two or three items at a time. Another thing about US gear is that once you have the basic web gear components like a BAR belt (At The Front makes a great one), canteen, and suspenders, they can be used in multiple impressions, making secondary impressions significantly less pricey. Which package are you looking at?

www.atthefrontshop.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=USPKGINFI just the standard us infantryman one, but i been liking the USMC one they have. my concern with the infantry one is the pants size, it says the smallest is 30x34 but im a 30x30. im only 19, and like the guy i work with says (who 30) "your still a baby" lol

Unfortunately there are no PTO games in the US, you're better off getting ETO gear

European Theater of Operations vs. Pacific Theater of Operations. The marines were never used in combat in the ETO, but were extensively used in the PTO. If you are smaller in size, I would highly recommend you look for some original clothing. They are pretty easy to come by (I have seen them in everywhere from antique stores, to Goodwill, to vintage clothing stores), and also pretty cheap. I was able to get my shirt and pants at a military show for under $30. Also, make sure to know what your waist size really is since modern sizing is different than the sizing during WWII. At the Front should have a guide for this somewhere.

Marines in the Pacific typically wore cotton based clothing as it was the tropics. khaki tan dress uniforms and herringbone twill OD or camouflage fatigues. There were slight differences in some of their web gear (canteen covers, pack system, leggings). This wasn't universal and they often used between war GI gear. Their camo helmet cover is pretty iconic and of course the globe and anchor on their field blouse. They usually were issued the Army version of the M41 field jacket. Occasionally as a branch of the Navy they got their version of the M41 (no epaulets and USN on the breast) but this was rarely the case either most would sport the Army version of the Parsons jacket or later M41. The Mediterranean or European GI might also have a cotton Herringbone Twill pair of trousers or jacket but more often would sport greenish brown wool trousers and the double pocket wool shirt.
Marines did not wear division insignia on their field jackets where US GIs did. (These were frequently removed during campaigns for operational security). By 1944 many soldiers began to receive the double buckle combat boots which eliminated the need for the unpopular leggings.
With your narrow waist you should be able to source some actual issue wool trousers and a mustard wool shirt for far far less than the cost of reproductions. They may be later Korean War Issue but they were virtually identical. The shade of trousers and shirt do not have to be an identical uniform color as this was seldom the case.
Choose a unit you'd like to represent and do some further research as to patches, insignia and peculiarities (if any) to that unit. Typically guys like to choose divisions that fought throughout the war in a wide variety of campaigns. The first Infantry Division (Big Red 1). 45th Infantry Division, 4th ID and 3rd ID are especially popular for that reason. RANGER units are also popular and the BAR was issued in greater proportional numbers (as were Thompsons) in RANGER units. A RANGER company was only 60 to 72 men compared to 200 with roughly the same number of BARs
