Just a word of warning but the organization, PAYPAL is totally anti-gun and as such has blocked members from further use of their site for dealing in gun related items. Even though the items we are dealing with here are Airsoft, I'm sure PAYPAL would still considered them to be related to "evil guns". When you list the item being purchased with PAYPAL, make sure to use a generic non-weapon related description such as "replacement part", "used metal brace" or "newspaper magazine". I'm sure descriptions such as spare trigger or pistol barrel or ammunition magazine would call unwanted attention to yourself. Also, if the money is sent as a gift, the recipient doesn't get charged the PAYPAL transaction processing fee.

Do you have reliable source for this information? Its a pretty big claim to be mouthing off about without backing it up.

Problem with sending it as a gift you have no buyer protection.
Personally I normally pay the fees myself to protect my purchase.
I almost lost $1500 last summer on an MP40 parts kit if it wasn't for the protection.

I think the suggestion to refrain from mentioning weapon sounding terms in your transaction descriptions is wise indeed. PayPal is a draconian. Close minded, biased (buyer but not seller) organization. Using the gift choice releases the 3% surcharge they draw from the seller but as stated using a "gift" designation surrenders your buyer protection so only use it with parties you totally trust. When buying items from people here on the forum I typically add 3% so the seller gets their sale full price.

I'm still concerned about the source of this info. Because if they prevent gun and gun parts sales, they lose out on all the fees they charge the sellers. It doesn't make sense business wise.
Also... If they are indeed cutting ties with gun and gun parts sites, that cannot prevent guns and gun parts being sold and paid with their system. I've sold many of things on paypal, only time Paypal knew what I was selling, was when the buyer requested an invoice. You just send money via goods and services, and no matter what, paypal won't know what goods or services you are paying for unless there is a case that opens up. Also, unless Paypal merges with ALL of the shipping companies, they are unable to go all big brother on what paypal member is sending other paypal member in regards to transactions.
Oh, and when anyone (usually UPS) asks me what I'm sending/selling that doesn't need to know its airsoft, I just say its either a "stage" or "costume prop" or just a blanket term, like "sports equipment." Never got asked anything after that.

They seem fine when its a Retailer doing the selling but weird out when its a private party. Fed Ex has refused shipments I wanted to make that were "airsoft guns". Like Dracu!, I use " collectible toy". "Costume props" or "vintage collectibles" and have had no issues since. The lady that usually helps me knows full well what I am shipping and the box shapes are kind of a dead giveaway.
If you declare a value above $500.00 they have to open the box to insure it is packed properly. Incidentally Fed Ex Ground is usually cheaper than our Post Office without having to shuffle down a line for 45 minutes before being helped.
Ebay is notorious for blowing off military items for the slightest perceived infraction. I loath them as a company. Very frustrating and non supportive. Also quite full of themselves. When they first started up they were a cool company.

Read the link from PAYPAL. See items 2j and 2k. www.paypal.com/webapps/mpp/ua/acceptableuse-fullThey do not distinguish between real firearms and Airsoft weapons. Just as 2nd Bat said, make the items descriptions generic and general just to be on the safe side. I just don't want anyone to get in trouble with PAYPALs goofy policies.

I see what you mean there, but thats very vague and not really enforced. Most of those things listed, sans drugs, have been bought via paypal many times in the past, and a lot of sites use paypal that deal with the stuff. For example, 2 (G) and (H), which state: "(g) items that are considered obscene, (h) items that infringe or violate any copyright, trademark, right of publicity or privacy or any other proprietary right under the laws of any jurisdiction" What do they know is obscene? That relative from person to person. If (H) was enforced, the entirety of Etsy would shut down or move to an alternate payment system. Also, with (E), while its a law that you can't sell stolen property, but how can Paypal, or even the buyer know that?
Full functional firearms, ammo, certain classes of lasers and night/thermal vision and drugs, I can understand. But many gun parts stores USE Paypal for payment. Any part you find on eBay is paid via Paypal. SMLE bolt, Mosin stock, etc etc. Maybe when they "certain parts" maybe they mean full parts kit, or specific things in order for a gun to function, like firing pins. But they don't classify what certain parts they are talking about.
There is no mention about replicas, airsoft, resin, or even blank fire purpose built replicas. Replicas aren't exactly regulated either, the only part that would fall under (I) would be to make sure its being sold with the law-compliant orange tip to someone 18 years or older.
I appreciate the concern, and I'm sure I speak on everyone's behalf with that. But airsoft is still good to go for proper sale via Paypal. I'm a part of many other airsoft communities, and I haven't heard a lick of this from any of them, and they all use paypal for buying and selling.
