I'm going to say my piece here.
Everything for the most part was great. So, I'll let others go into that detail.
My main suggestion is that for next events, that anyone who decides to stay the night before the came should get all together and communicate with each other about when they are expected to be there. Through like a group text or something. This time, it really sounded like people were going to get there mid-day or late afternoon on Friday, but Tracy and I got there at about 3:30-4pm, no one was there and I scrambled to text some of the regulars to see when (or if) anyone was actually coming. Only at the field, did we find out that Nate wasn't coming until "late" and no one else was going to camp out. Tracy was planning on camping out, too. It wasn't really ideal since we wasted time just waiting and killing time in Wolcott, CT where there isn't anything to really do.
Other than that, no real complaints, had a applesauce ton of fun, too.

Thanks for the input, Drac. More communication is better than less-- both on the field and off.
For once I have essentially nothing to offer the AAR, as with my back out I was only ever at the very periphery of any action at best, and missed one scenario all together.
What I can say is that even being more or less a non-entity on the field was a blast. It was very interesting being in the town during the assault but not being an active participant in the defense, hearing gunfire first on this side, then on that, and having not the slightest idea what was going on. Probably very much like being in a non-combatant role around real combat.
Beyond that, let the front-line soldiers chime in.

First off, I need to give thanks to all those who attended this event on a very hot summer day.
Special thanks goes out to Mark for coming to the event even though his back was saying otherwise. His loaner gear really helped out some of our newer players and not to forget how much he adds to the event by just being there. From his propaganda broadcasts on my bull horn to him walking around the German occupied town in his full Lt. uniform, he truly adds a great touch to the event.
I would also like to thank Frank for taking the lead for the Germans. He outdid himself in leading his forces all day.
Of course Nate and all his props and gear always help. And last but not least is Alucard and Tracy for making the long drive up and being great players.
Now on to the event:
As I mentioned, this particular day was very hot and muggy. Precautions were taking by all to hydrate and helpful measures were put into place in case of any cases of heat stroke.
The first Battle scenario was for the Allied forces to attack the Town of Saint Lo held by the German forces. There was a one hour time limit for the allies to take the objective. (we decided to put time limits on the scenarios in lieu of the heat).
In cooperation with a 4 man French Resistance unit, the Allies split their forces into 3 squads. While the French forces seemed to take on the heaviest fire (and Casualties), U.S. forces did manage to penetrate the German perimeter several times. After one of our French friends was captured and placed in the town jail, two U.S commandos entered the town and rescued the jailed Frenchie. While Frenchie and one of our commandos did pay the ultimate sacrifice, crack commando Sgt. Dean Migs did capture the German CO and bring him back to our field HQ. While all other forces were still entangled in battle, the German CO offered his surrender to first Sgt. Migs. While U.S forces did not occupy the town of Saint Lo, we did have their CO. This first scenario was declared a draw.
The second Battle scenario was for the Germans to counter-attack our position and take our field HQ. While we did have the high ground, German forces operated with great stealth and excellent tactics. As if they planned it all to well, one of our Frenchies who was watching our six was killed by a friendly misfire from close range. Within two minutes of this and no one really watching our six, German forces attacked us from that direction. Allied forces including yours truly dropped like flies and within 5 minutes, the HQ was theirs. Not since Custer has there been a more one sided battle.
The last scenario was again for U.S. forces to make another attempt at taking the German occupied town of Saint Lo. By now both sides forces were severely depleted due weather caused fatigue and gun malfunctions. Never the less, U.S and French forces fought valiantly in their efforts to take Saint Lo. Once again, crack commando Sgt. Dean Migs entered the town and continued his assault on German forces. His kill total for the day rose to roughly 10, including the German CO. Upon his second assault of the town during this scenario, each side seemed to be dug in and there was a stalemate within the town. It was at this point that the cease fire siren was heard for an all stop.
We managed to call the event with enough time to pack our stuff away right before the rain showed up.
Over all I must give the nod to the Germans for winning this event. But the real winners were all those who braved the heat and made this event possible.
Going forward, I will defer to Nate for the next event sometime in the fall. In the meantime I will be planning a Christmas break event sometime between Christmas and New Years. Probably another Bastogne Event. I've got some good ideas!!
Thanks to all and enjoy the rest of your summer.
Migs
Thanks again to you all.

Just to be clear, in the first action, the CO was not captured, just an insignificant Propagandazug non-combatant junior officer with no worthwhile intelligence to offer. In all fairness the German forces probably deserve the win on that one-- though the Allies sure seemed to press hard and did enter the town repeatedly.

It is true you weren't the actual CO, but I always think you are. :-)

My son, his friend, and I had a great time. Next time we will definitely be staying the night before. The drive in the am was brutal. Overall it was a good time. Unfortunately I was worth very little during the battle because of the heat. Looking forward to a event when its a little more cooler outside. And looking forward to seeing that group pic! Thanks to Mark for lending us his stuff!

I sent a message to the GZA Facebook page asking if they took any photos and they said the photos are uploaded on the GZA USA group. The problem I found was that the Facebook page is the only online source I found and there are no photos.

It was an honor fighting alongside my teammates on the Allies side, and to the Axis players it was an honor sparring with you. From 2011 - 2013, I attended all the WW2 airsoft events in the area, and this was the first event I attended in 3 years. It was really cool to see some of my old friends again as well as making a bunch of new ones.
There were three excellent scenarios and I thank Migs for hosting such a great event. It was especially fun being in a squad with Anthony and Dean and raiding the town of Saint Lo. I look forward to seeing everyone again at the next event!
Also would someone be able to send me the photos from the GZA page as well? For some reason I cannot seem to access it. Thanks in advance.
- AJ

Likewise AJ! It was one hell of a time going on those recon patrols, lobbing grenades over the walls, radioing in enemy activity, and being stunned by all belief that Dean actually survived several encounters! Photos look great, and those German gents look sharp and ready for the Yanks to come marching in (with some French)! I had a fantastic time for my first actual WWII skirmish and hope there are several more in the future.
