Hey everyone back here again, In my last post, I asked about lowering the fps on a agm stg44. Someone recomended to switch the spring. I tried this and it failed because the spring was too big. I was then barely able to put the original spring back in. Instead of risking breaking the gearbox again ( and possibly for good) I've decided that it would be easier to find a gearbox that is compatible for the AGM stg44 that shots around 360 fps. Does anyone know where I can find one?

Cut the spring. The one that came with the gun.It lowers the fps and leeps you from risking breaking the gun.Only cut one coil at a time and test the fps after every try

The AGM STG uses a Version 2 Gearbox. Identical to any other V2 gearbox for M16s and M14s out there. Same thing with hopup unit.

It is primarily your SPRING not your GEARBOX that is generating the FPS. Follow the suggestion of cutting one coil until your desired fPS is obtained. Another approach is fire on full auto until you can tell the spring stops in a locked state. (This is kind of a feel sound sort of deal) once you feel it's in a locked state, store it for a few days like that. This will reduce the tension somewhat reducing your FPS. It's the reason it's so important normally to fire an AEG several shots on semi before storing or putting it away. In your case you deliberately want to deplete your spring tension somewhat.

Where i play they are very strict that you cannot be even 1 fps over the limit ,you can loose about 10 fps by increasing the amount of hop so they just start to lift slightly at the end of the BB's flight. Saves stripping the gearbox down. I think you need to cut 2 coils off the your main spring to loose 10-20 fps.

Two coils seems about right to me as well. I am all in favor of strict FPS rules for given events and there is actually a great deal of science around encouraging a jouelles rating equivalent of 380 FPS for .20 gram and below. The tissue damage climbs exponentially above that FPS especially inside 75 feet from the muzzle.
Standards are ONLY standards when they are strictly adhered to. The primary and uncompromising goal of all our events should be safety and I had a lot of concern as I watched the out of the box FPS on increasingly less expensive airsoft guns rise. Eyes and teeth are the physical aspects most at risk and while we are pretty mindful of eye pro, dental injuries are too often ignored.
Full facemasks detract greatly from our authenticity expectations but frankly make a lot of sense. I am a big advocate of face shaped mesh masks but I know a lot of players in our hobby abhor the thought of them.

I agree with that,on only a handfull of ocasions have i played with out a mask, last month i did so,in the first 5 minuits of the game i caught a burst around the nose,my face felt paralised ,and that was from at least 80ft.Needless to say i put my mask on asap. The guy next to me then started to complain how much the hits were stinging.WE believe is was from a polar star/hpa gun,Some controversy exists that these guns chrono on 0.2g bbs and then they massivly overvolume the amount of air released into the barrell and use heavy weight ammo in game ,and so gain extra joule energy and so range. In my experience ther is no real gain in range, when using 0.2 and 0.25 ammo, above 360fps or 1.1joule.Ammo above this weight can double in price very often.

The actual effect on range as FPS increases is NOT as significant as a lot of people believe. Heavier BBs (with effective hop up) do affect range in a positive way but typically less than 15 feet. What most players don't fully grasp is the rather bizarre trajectory that an Airsoft BB takes. At the end of its inertia the BB virtually drops out of the sky. To the casual observer firing the round it appears to be continuing down range far further than its actual flight. When we shoot at someone out of range we often think the BB is striking them and then dropping and we often think they aren't calling hits when in fact the BB never actually reached them. The heavier BB shot from the same gun (other than a long barreled gas gun) will have a lower FPS at the muzzle but often a higher FPS at 20 feet+ than the lighter BB which slows down more quickly due to enertia.
The PS guns have to be very closely monitored and regulated as to BBs used and field alterations which are so easy to do. They are all too often a source for unsafe velocities and this presents both an unfair advantage and more importantly an unsafe situation. At the very least they create mistrust and suspicion (even when unsubstantiated) than can negatively effect the playing experience of comraderie and fun.
