This is a project I started several years ago and never finished. I'm better at starting these things than finishing. i.imgur.com/ZxLHcVA.jpgi.imgur.com/osMLGOR.jpgi.imgur.com/haVFKy9.jpgi.imgur.com/rCZ2jgJ.jpgI have the rear sight, but never got it mounted. Also I wasn't happy cutting a big hole in the bottom of the stock for the usual VSR10 mag. I've considered different approaches for the mag, but haven't come up with one that didn't entail of lot of work. I found the stock was easier to work with than a Kar98 stock. It seems like there was a lot less inletting involved to make things fit.

Nicely done!
I agree - without the stock big whole is better. This actually kept me from starting a similar tranzitioon. I already have the experience with the SWM24 and VZ stock where the magwell was sticking out almost 1 cm. How you did the outer barrel?

I cut off the VSR10 outer barrel where the upper handguard starts. At the muzzle I used a piece of 1/2 inch copper pipe with the front sight base soldered to it.

I agree! It's looks 90% there. Locating and finishing the VSR mag well cut is always a bit daunting but once I figured out that dyna glass fills in over cuts very nicely my confidence and the finished look went up considerably. If you have the rear site mounting it is pretty easy as well.
What base VSR did you use?
