Hello from the Uk
Last weekend we had a ww2/milsim themed game at Grafton Underwood near a Town called kettering ,located roughly central of England. The site was formerly an RAF airbase later taken over by 8th Airforce USAF later in the war. My parents grew up in kettering
and often cycled out to try and see the aircraft and get sweets from American airman
The base had thousands of personnel, and was one of the largest in the uk.The camp was set out with tracks in the layout of a cartwheel,it is now woodland where the camp once was, there are many water towers, building remains and some air raid shelters.so it makes interesting terrain for Airsoft plus being a ww2 historic site makes the event for me on its own.
The event was battle of the Bulge themed event, whilst driving there was heavy fog and ice on the Road and still snow on the playing area so the scene was set from the beginning. There was ss ,heer and FJ on the axis side ,and British and American, including Airborne
troops in their number.Players were about 55 in total. It was cold and started to rain ,but with the right gear i was not uncomfortable.
Sorry i never got the chance for any photos, but everyone on the whole had a great time, apart from those who complain when they get shot,so why do they play Airsoft ,but there is one of those at every game.I played some of the game without a mask, until i got my my face sprayed off twice defending a large earth mound, and then got my mask out.
Generally WW2 games are a niche hobby and people are traveling maybe over 100 miles to attend and get a game together.
Luckily we still have a forum still to co-ordinate it all.
