So I checked Evike's WWII page for whatever reason and saw that they had a pre-order up for the S&T Kar98k. Looks like it's gonna be a whole lot easier to get stocks and receivers for VSR conversions. What do you guys think? www.evike.com/products/40444/

Indeed sadly serving as donor parts for a VSR conversion is its best use. By the time you add the cost of a VSR and the conversion time you end up with an awful expensive rifle. A pure, functional VSR type KAR 98 to begin wifh along the lines of the S&T Springfield remains elusive and that really baffles me. Such a need for it to fill that void.

S&T's arisaka and springfield perform so well, why does nobody make a nice spring k98? It is ridiculous at this point we keep getting these shell ejecting ones where they are relatively useless on the field.

I couldnt agree more. I was sure with the Springfield and now the Arisaka that surely a proper non shell ejecting Springer Kar 98 cant be far behind. Priced like them it would do well. The shell ejecting feature is clever on some level but as a skirmisher is non functional a VSR based zet up would sell like crazy and add so much to our hobby. It and a quality AEG carbine are our two biggest holes right now.

I'm actually kinda hoping that it's not a shell ejecting Kar98k and an actual springer that Evike was too lazy to make a page for so they just used the old one as a placeholder.

unfortunetly it's not under new products so it's almost definitely just a restock of the shell ejecting.

Unfortunate update: I purchased the S&T spring Kar98 from SWIT Airsoft recently. The item arrived, I test fired it and it was instantly malfunctioning from the first shot. It sounds like the internal piston only travels part way forward, resulting in the weapon not firing initially, but then sometimes discharging accidentally when bumped. SWIT accused me of trying to "rip them off" despite me sending them a video chronicling the malfunctioning weapon, and gave me the run around stating that "no retailers refund customers who are outside of their country" and trying to intimidate me, even reacting to my mention of starting a PayPal claim by stating that they would win. Unfortunately at this point I have been forced to start a PayPal claim, and failing that I will pursue it via a claim with my bank.

Woah, that sounds hectic and terrible. Sorry for your rotten luck, I was looking into ordering from SWIT as well but the circumstances you are undergoing is giving me second thoughts.

I can assure you that you will eventually win your PayPal dispute. They will freeze your funds and it may take a while but you will "win". Shipping is the big question. I just ordered this offering through Evike. Hope I have better luck with its performance!

Oh man, it honestly sounds like the problems I had with the first runs of their 1903. Some got theirs fine, but mine barely worked... Hopefully you win your case, though.

The later Springfields apparently were harder shooters than the first batch we got. According to the intial reports this KAR is supposed to shoot 400 to 420 w .20 gram. Bar 10s are typically around 440 to 465. My Springfield has crept up over time to around 365. With bolties there is a fine line between ease of cocking and power. I find 360 to 400 is ideal. I like to be able to cock from the shoulded so I can get that second round off quickly. I really have high hopes that this offering will prove to be reliable and skirmishable!

Just received mine this a posted a full report in the other thread. Overall, quite pleased. Remarkably different than their 1903 Springfield. They share nothing in design that I can see. Mine thus far works great!

I shot the S&T k98 great rifle and accurate a hard hitter. Too bad they dont make it with real wood. It is definitly worth the price. S&T did better with this one.

There is now an optional wood stock available (discussed in the other thread) No doubt a real wood version is coming. Several thousand rounds into my Kar 98 and I still love mine.

Evike now has pre orders for full wood stock, non shell ejecting 400 FPS, fully upgradeable KAR 98 sprinters for $230.00! This is fabulous news because this is a fabulous, hard shooting, accurate, fully skirmishes rifle.

90.00 seems quite reasonable, depending on how much shipping to the U.S. Is? Having done it you DON'T want to inlet and actual stocks so they fit. Way way more work than I had initially anticipated. Based strictly on the pictures this after market stock looks pretty good. Clearly the best bet if you want real wood stock is to buy the full wood version when you can find it.

Hi,
If you do a spring guide - add 2 for me:)
Also I took a look to the upgrades from swiftairsot - the stopper groove thing looks like an interesting idea.

Here we go when in the original stock... it took ca 2hrs witj dremmel and drill to fit it in.... the work is quite sunstantial and in certain areas you have to be careful as you can see the magazine sticks out a tiny bit...

That was my experience as well. I don't have your tools or skill probably so inletting a real stock took quite a bit of work and time. Looks great and still love my S & T Mad 98. Great feel.great look and a great shooter. Wood side walls are very thin but seem to be holding up just fine.

Hi guys, Just an update - airsoftpro.cz are making a replacement kit involving piston / spring / metal spring guide / sear catch and spring stopper - quite pricey I would say ~47 EU.

Mine with no modifications whatsoever has no problem hitting a human sized target at 140 feet with enough "ooompf" that they feel it.
