I typically try to swing through the areas thrift shops looking for treasures usually coming out empty handed. Tonight I found a large size, excellent condition WW1 tunic. Because of the larger size and overall condition I do not believe it to be an original but rather an excellent reproduction. Amazingly it fit me like it was tailored for me, sleave length and everything. Some OD wool jodpurs, puttees and my "Smokey the bear" campaign hat and I am Blackjack Pershing, reencarnate.

When I find any WW2 items at a thrift store I look more closely as often times family members cleaning out a closet drop off other items. As it turns out there was a minty M43 field jacket a wool shirt and a WW2 ammo box. I am betting they were all from the same source. Naturally I bought them all.

Discovered a pair of what appears to be new old stock double buckle boots. They have been dobbed and waterproofed but appear un- worn. The leather and soles are supple and flexible. They are a matched pair of 9 C Boston depot but each boot has a different production date. One is Nov 1944 and the other Feb 1945. Beautiful pair of absolutely wearable boots.

I have rescued quite a few wonderful treasures over the years including lots of field jackets, over coats and perhaps my favorite a mint WW2 tanker helmet.
