Hey all im just a kid with ideas. anyone dream of landing on a beach being riddled with bbs while trying to get your scattered division together so you could take the beach? well ive never but until now i think its pretty cool. i cant get this event to take place but for someone more powerful than me can. i say find a lake somewhat shallow with a good sized beach (now im not totally sure so correct me) i think it was the 2nd rangers and i forgot the other groups but we could all land scattered while germans in protected bunkers shoot down on helpless americans who are trying to clear the beach while this is all happening 101st impressionists go behind enemy lines and fight whatever battle took place (i think it was battle for carentan but im not sure) and then they meet up after the grueling long day of fighting. if anyone of those people who make these events happen like this idea, could you make it somewhere in the IL area? thanks and add to this if you can the more the merrier

keep dreaming bud... lol. There are some blank battles that involve Higgins boats and the whole storming the beach. They held it in one of the great lakes. They even allow a whole crowd to come down and watch it. Until air soft becomes more main stream i cant really see this happen at least on the scale i think your imagining. The logistics of planing such a battle are just mindbogglingly plus the fact AEG'S don't go with water to well. sry but keep dreaming.

Plus, a more inclusive event should be in order first. I am in the 45th Infantry, and by the time of D-Day, where were they? I think they were already fighting their way through France? Or still in Italy? Jeeze, I should know their history better, I suppose...

It could be done....if you had enough people. You could have a few plywood LCVPs on the shore line with functioning ramps. The Germans could make bunkers or trenches and open fire. The thing is that you woudn't have enough people....the germans would win. Say if you got 50 people as the allies and 10 people as the Germans....the Germans would still cream the allies. The reason why the allies were victors on D-day is because of their great numbers....like some elements from the 352nd vs. entire armies.

that's not right, the reason we won is becasue of divisions like the 101th and the 82nd and even the british 6th. they were the ones who were taking out the 88s that were firing onto the beaches and taking causeways such as carentan cherbourg because without causeways the infantry and tanks would have just been sitting on the beach and Rommel (who was in Paris for his wifes' birthday on the 6th)would have sent his amored infantry to push them back into the sea. It is all about tactics! And the 45th was in Rome untill they participated in Operation Dragoon

And because hitler underestimated the invasion and took it very casual only sending like 1 panzer division to reenforce the men at the atlantic wall.

I know there was many other factors that made us win (all of those brave heros) but my point was that without wave after wave of men (ie 1 wave) they would have not made it....which would be the case with an "airsoft" d-day.

Indy's right, the mian reason is becuase the german resistance was way less than expected. It even says that in the 'Stars and Stripes' news paper on June 7th, 1944. But then again, it was an American news paper, and is most likely is over-exaggerating (Sp?)

Although, Normandy was lined with panzer divisions that were not deployed because Rommel was in Paris for his wifes' birthday

But, you cannot forget Hitler's firm belief that the "real" invasion force was going to attack from the South, so he kept the majority of his troops far south.
