I am low on cash but I would like to buy an AEG. I would like it if I could use the gun for both ‘Nam and WWII but I can’t decide on which one to get. I don’t want to get a Thompson because they are so freakin common. I was thinking about doing FJ for an impression so I thought about going either the route of binarypunisher and get an m14 or Jager Dru’s route and get an AK 47 to use as a substitute for an MP44. What do you think? Do you have another suggestion?

You could get an MP40 and do a VC impression.

I would wait for like CYMA to make a Grease Gun AEG. I mean i heard its possible, and if its like the chinese m14's and mp40's that came out quickly, then it could be soon. Best bet for a US weapon would be a Thompson, since it was in Vietnam and WWII. The m14 is one of the best AEG's ive used and i do own it, but i think its just not good looking to have a "look-a-like" weapon as the m14 inplace of the m1 garand. Just get a mp-40, or thompson, since both were used in both eras.

CM028s are pretty good, I would get one over a Marui (they are what, half the price?). Maruis are still better..but you cant beat the price.
I really like my M14, but are you going to do being VC/NVA or US?

M14's are awsome! I'm the only one who voted that.

I really like my M14, but are you going to do being VC/NVA or US? Well I haven't decided. I was leaning towards US because I believe that there are some US 'Nam units here in Poland. Then again NVA would be way cheaper. Btw, is 2nd Bat still selling those NVA uniform sets or not? Or is he going to wait until RECONDO school is over this year again. I saw he posted something on the Battlesim fourum about it, but I don't have a loggin there so I couldn't ask about it. Click

The VC/NVA route would be easiest if you are doing both WWII and Vietnam. The VC used about any weapon they could get their hands on, so it probably wouldn't look too out of place to see Charlie running around with a Kar98K or an MP40. Remember, the VC were supplied by the Russians, and it's probably safe to assume that they took guns off of dead French soldiers. There is photographic evidence of French Paras in Vietnam with M1 carbines, so you could possibly use an M1 carbine as a captured weapon in both wars. Just to be on the safe side though, I would go Kar98k or MP40.

Well, I have lived here since I was 11 and I have come back every two years since then. Military surplus stores absolutely suck here. There is no chance of getting WWII stuff. Unless you get really beat up East German stuff. But, even that is rare. I'm visiting the States this comming December for a few months (mabye I'll be able to make it up to The Long Winter 2008. That would be cool) But I am planning on acually moving out and living in the States for a few months When I turn 18, then its off to Marine boot camp.
Another quick question: If I decide to get an MP40 I would get WWII pouches for FJ but I don't know what I would use while 'Namsofting. What mag pouches to you guys suggest I get for a VC impression?

If you were given an AK you had the AK chest rig, SKS, SKS chest rig.

if your looking for sks bandoliers then you can find them at atthefront.com your probably doing a vc impression than essentially any mag pouch you can get you'd use. those mags would probably clack around a lot in an ak chest rig and extra noise was a big no no in 'nam so you might wanna use whatever works. i might even suggest something homemade ( i used essentially a homemade burlap 3 cell for my thompson when i did vc for a short time)

M1 Garand, it was used in Nam, and you can say you captured it, for your German impression.
MP40 is another option. K98 is a very nice gun.

German's didn't really like the m1 garand. First of all, it was very tricky to load it, and also, the enemy could hear when you were out of ammo, from the ping. Also, it was rarely used in Vietnam. Mostly by South Vietnamese Rangers, or in like by US troops in very very very early Nam.
