On the 24 of June (D+18) we had the first WWII game in Denmark - we were in a multi-purpose small ruined village called 'Gudsø' in danish. Correct equipment and weapons were minimal, but DAMN we had fun! Everyone was roleplaying like shey should when they got hit, so it was great. One of the GM's had set up a stereo and was looping the background sounds from SPR, we we could hear distant fighting all the time - really an atmospheric lift! We also had french civilians running around, both freedom fighters and nazi collaborators - that really gave the game a new side. Youtube vids: youtube.com/watch?v=QmcNHTNQzQsthere are like 30, search "WW2 Re-enactment (24-06-2007)" for all of them. Pics: hardball-syd.dk/galleri/thumbnails.php?album=23Shameless plug: me getting patched up by the team medic. Suggestions for improvements, apart from the obvious gear 'n stuff?

Wow I must say, it all looked pretty damn good for a first event! Besides from the fa-mas's and m16's, and some inaccuratcies, it all looked good. Very cool looking feild to play at, did it just get bombed or something?

Full face masks are highly recommended, and I don't doubt that a K98 could knock out a tooth, so I'm playing safe.
The village is used by the fire department for exercises and stuff like that, so it's a simulated warzone.
Did you notice the .30 cal ;D

What a cool field to have access to for skirmishes! I'm sure you all had a great time. Aren't those masks and goggles something awful looking? Reminds me of something right out of Return to Castle Wolfenstein...lol...but alas, they have to be worn so I really can't bitch You guys did a good job of documenting everything too. Mike

Awesome AO. Looks like the game was well organized and put together with scenarios far more advanaced then the usual "Ready go..." approach. Great job! Thanks for sharing.

You're welcome. After seeing pics of the event back home, a whole lot of people went babungas to get WWII gear so they could join up - the WWII airsoft in DK is rolling! Although it might take some time before we reach the level of attention to detail and general nitpickery we have here J/K EDIT: a couple of the civilians:

Hey Seff, what kind of mask is that btw? And how well do they work for you guys? ...such as price, comfortability, fogging, and is there enough room to wear some period glasses underneath?

Mike They're the bare minimum of protection - I have a dent it the net from a K98 from that particular game. No penetration though. The price is about 20-30 dollars. It's not terribly comfortable, as it tends to ride on your nose, but there is no fogging at all, with it being a net 'n all. I wore my glasses under the mask at that particular game, but I'll be wearing lenses next time since my glasses fogged inside the mask. The next game is the 9. of September, expect more uniforms, and a few Garand AEG's.

Lol...I didn't even realize they were mesh...guess that would help prevent fogging huh? Right now I'm trying to find the least Sci/Fi looking mask, so as plain as possible really and non-mesh. A lot of commercial fields are requiring these nowadays but I haven't gotten off my ass to get one. Probably because I know it basically craps on the impression imo. Mike

We had our second WWII game, more people showed up and more uniforms, so all is wonderful! There were a number of small technical changes, nothing you'll be able to tell from pictures. The pics will be ready in a few days, IIRC.

Sure was a grea event! and the area and buildings are great.
We're heading in the right direction with the number of people in uniforms and the props in each game, so who knows what'll happen in a year ^^

I think that within the next few years, it would be possible for us finns also to come there to play with you. We've been to Sweden and Estonia before, so it'd be awesome to go there too.

Yes of course, KEP kindly tripled the axis fighting force in this picture by adding the tank, the halftrack, a bike, three planes, and a helmet on the head of the middle dude. Also removed 1/3 of an ugly Volvo.

We had yet another game, with a simulated air drop over France from the back of a speeding jeep. These were Jedburg teams, commandoes sent out around Carentan to assist the resistance 'round those parts in giving the germans a headache while the invasion forces muster for attack further south, in Normandy. Several Americans and a single Brit were captured, but no critical information was divulged, luckily. After several failed attempts of contact with resistance contacts, codename Charlie proceeded further south and finally found friendly souls - and were promptly sent east to a nearby open field where Allied forces were setting up a drop zone. Here, they were ambushed by german forces, who were successful in eliminating most of the team, except for two pathfinders who hid in the dense pine forest until the Germans retreated to their bunker in the early morning hours. A few hours later, the paratrooper and Glider infantry of the US and Britain had assembled at their rendezvous point and prepared to ambush a German patrol expected to come by - and indeed it did. Caught in a well-executed crossfire, the Germans stood little chance, even with thei superior numbers and firepower. A retreat into the nearby bocage was deftly hindered by SMG fire, and all resistance was overcome. Score one for the Allies! A much more daunting task were the mortar entrenched in the nearby position, overlooked by a platoon of Germans, complete with the new and feared STG44 and ever-fearful MG-42. Uncaring, the Allied took heavy casualties, and had to fall temporarily back unsuccessful - but a persistent flanking attack rendered the MG overheated, and the mortar- and MG-team was subdued long enough to make a serious dent in the Nazi effectiveness in this area - not a total victory, nor cost-free by far. The final battle in these morning hours were for a small bridge leading to Utah beach. A small number of mixed allied troops held it against a sneaky, flanking enemy - intel was grievously faulty, resulting in unknown bridges that the german infantry quickly exploited to encapsule the Allied forces, raining hell upon them with their bolt action rifles. There has been no report from the Allied forces currently believed to hold the bridge, at this time, though reports are sketchy This, ladies and gentlemen, marks the fourth game here, and we are sure moving up! Excuse the camping pictures, we had fun! www.hardball-syd.dk/galleri/thumbnails.php?album=41
