I'd love it if someone who is in the know would do a review/ comparison of some of the newly affordable, low end bolt action rifles that have suddenly come onto the market. At one time the Super 9 was really the only low priced offering and it's of course legendarily bad but what about the UTG "master Sniper" that's supposedly just like a maruzen APS-2 or the HFC VSR-11 knock off of the Marui VSR-10? (parst and magazines supposedly interchangeable!) The other one you see in the under $150.00 range and with heady claims is the Kwan Ju Works M700P.
If anyone has first hand info on any of these I'm sure folks would be interested. It would seem if good functioning and reliable bolt action rifles are available it could add alot of realism and playability to our events without spending huge dough. Of course it'd be wonderful if they looked like Mausers and Springfields but at this point beggars can't be choosers.
I know the Tanaka Kar 98 is terrific but I'm specifically wondering about the new under $150.00 offerings.

There is an edit button..... If you really want a sniper rifle, get a Tanaka k98. If you want a modern gun then don't post it here.

Yes a scope can be mounted on a K98 or a super 9. The new super x9 or whatever they are calling it is much better than the old one. The 150.00 and under snipers that I ahve seen are a vast improvement over the past. I have seen a UHC that was upgrade to 500fps and still functioning. Can't speak to longevity just yet.

This is what i seem to be hearing, that the quality and price seems to be coming down as the Chinese enter the market with better attention to detail and performance. I'm especially interested in hearing first hand experience on the VSR-11 Marui knock off that apprently is so close in build that it uses marui 30 round clips and internals that are interchangeable. I've handled a marui VSR-10 and it is silky smooth, well made and shoots great right out of the box. A copy that's less then half the price obviously sounds real good.
Please everyone who has some first hand experience with any of these low end bolt action rifles let us know what you think. Dan the affordability curve for Kar 98 conversions using real steel components might be viable if you settled on an inexpensive but properly functioning base gun and can standardize some of the build steps. Didn't you do a decent Kar 98 on a PSG some time back? I keep seeing fully functioning mauser rifles for next to nothing!

I'd also love to do an all bolt action rifle game sometime and if there are decent enough guns available that are cheap enough it might just be doable. A guy would probably just need 8 to 12 rifles to supplement what others could bring.

built on an APS2 SV. No one has been willing to come forward with funds to actually build another even with some of the cheaper guns out now. I would be happy to convert one of those for less. Someone buys all the parts all I charge is 150.00 for my time to put one together and it takes a lot of my time....I have a new little project. Simple anyone can do it with time and a dremel. I purchased a wood kit for a similar real steal weapon and have begun modifying it for the CA33. Here I have cut down the foregrip and it fits very very snug and uses the front lock pin just like on the CA33 plastic foregrip. I will be doing some extra shaving around the foregrip to make it fit even close and adding a metal band to the back to give a finished look. The buttstock should be an easy fit aswell. I will add another picture here when it is completley together. Anyone can do this mod if they have some time and a dremel. Nothing special but I thought someone might get an idea from it. I realize it is not a wood kit off a Stg44 but the wood does make the CA33 look a lot closer to the gun I want but cannot afford.

I have seen those wood kits and have often thought of doing the same thing myself. Nice project. I'm sure it'll come out nice and will work out real well.
I did an FN Fal variation on a G3A3 body which turned into something of a FRANKEN gun but looked pretty good. It worked fine, was unique (not truly a replica of anything ) and sold on Ebay for what i thought was stupid money. ($750.00) I thought about making some more but got sidetracked with my Garand kit.

This is kind of an old post to bring up, but I think they used to have one out on the market, but it was really pricey. Only ones out at the moment are custom ones made from 1903 stocks and vsr-10 internals.

With the reality of some very good quality bolt action springers that function well and have proven relaible alot of garage project conversions combining these springer hardware elements with WW bolt action rifle stocks have sprung up. Curently you can buy Kar 98s, Springfields and a Mosin Nagant compeletly done up as custom guns for half what the custom one off used to cost. (Most are under $600.00 when they used to run 1200 to 1600.00) These project guns have turned out real nice and offer some nice variety on our airsoft skirmish fields.
Naturally even with super upgrades the notion of sniper and airsoft are so mutually exclusive as to be laughable machinations of 13 year old wet dream fantasies but now you've got me started down a road no one wants me to travel.
