Hello Colt!
I own a Marushin Kar98k!
The wood is decent quality first off.
The receiver is plastic as well as the trigger guard assembly.
The quality of plastic is GOOD! I have skirmished my k98 in 3 games and have had times when I had to dive with the gun.
The plastic holds up, its Heavy Weight meaning the plastic contains some metalic compound.
The bolt, safety, barrel etc is all Metal.
The Outer barrel is aluminum so be careful with it, it scratches easy.
The bolt is blued steel.
The safety and gas shield might be cast aluminum, not 100%.
The rear sight is metal, watch out I almost lost my sight when the roll pin fell out, which causes the sight to fall off.
Also the front sight tends to get loose, after bashing it
in fierce battles, which is easy to fix by tightening the little HEX screw underneath the front sight.
DO NOT SLAM THE BOLT! You are going to screw up the little lip on the bolt face thus interfeering(sp?) the gas flow which leads to more inconsistency in the BB"s flight path (the BB's are already a bit instable since the larger diameter causes it to lose its stability).
I prefer loading the K98k without stripping clips.
Its a bit awkward to put the shells in with the clip because the shells want to fall or roll away from the loose clip.
The gas valves can be replaced, either the filling falve or the vent valve shouldn't cost you over 10$ each.
You can find them at WGC.
I use propane on the gun and achieved 380 FPS in 6 degrees Celsius.
She shoots hard!
You can expect your gun to punch through a pop can using HFC134a in room temperatures
I think the Marushin Kar.98k is the best plinking gun/model gun out there.
Well, to refrase it, don't plane on using it for skirmishes, but you can really enjoy plinking with it.
