STG-44 assault rifle, with mags and gas system, 2100$,
Gas to get to game to use said rifle, 3.40$
The soft effeminate, girly squeal that your buddies let out when you unleash Soul crushing firepower on them, PRICELESS!
No I was not shooting hot either. avg FPS with .20 was between 390 - 410. (we allow 400 FPS with a 5% variant) I Chronoed and set my pressure with .20, but shot .25 ammo all day
I have actually had the weapon for several years now. but yesterday was the first time that I really got to use it, without any problems. mostly its ben a wall hanger.
The previous time I used it, year before last, I didn’t really know what I was doing, and couldn’t get it to work quite right, and only used it one game. But after a recent PM with gordak, and some highly useful Lubrication advice, I finally got it into the field for a full day.
The trigger pull and all around performance of this weapon is so much better than any AEG I have ever used or seen. Most of my kills went down within just 10 semi auto shots. Accuracy was just killer and I only had to switch to full auto 2 times all day.
Shoei needs to make more of these "airsoft WMDs".
Thanks again for the tech help gordak.

Awesome. I too am jealous.
For the sake of accuracy of chrono I would highly recommend you chrono with the weight of Bbs you're going to use (especially with a long barreled gas gun.) My prediction is your .25 grams will shoot harder then the 20 grams with identical power settings. That means you might be chronoing considerably harder and higher jouelles then you realize.
The fact is counter intuitive but fairly common. I know you don't want to hurt anyone so I'd check it out just to be sure. It has to do with initial velocity in the barrel being slower allowing a bigger gas expansion prior to departure of the muzzle creating greater inertia for the heavier round. Ouch!

Well 2nd bat, I believe that’s the first time I have heard of that theory. But it certainly merits very serious consideration. I have been airsofting for 6 years now, and the rule of thumb has always been, chrono with .20, regardless of the weight of ammo you use.
If what you say is accurate, then that brings up a fairly serious safety issue that needs to be addressed EVERYWHERE. Because not one single air soft event that I have ever been to, has ever taken that into consideration.
I do know that in all the time I have been playing, I have been lit up several times with 400 FPS guns that I know were firing .25s. Personally I don’t consider myself to have a High pain threshold. I am Old fat and squishy. I bruise easy, and I don’t heal like I used to in my 20s. I don’t like pain anymore than the next guy. But I have never felt the urge to complain about a Hit. Safety is important to me. Not just my own safety either. When I bought these gas powered airsoft guns, I also Purchased a 300$ Radar Chronograph. (you know, one of the big red ones you see at the serious events) Because I wanted to make absolutely sure I wasn’t hurling plastic at people at un-safe velocities. I figured that If I can dump this much money into an airsoft toy, then I can spend a little extra to make sure I never injure someone with it. The last thing I want is to be responsible for putting out someone’s eye. As a general rule, I personally never let anyone get within 50 feet of me in an out door game because I don’t always know what people are shooting at me or how hard they are shooting it. I know what the rules say, but I am smart enough to know that not everyone is as serious about my safety as I am.
But personally, the day I can no longer handle the pain of a legal air soft hit, is the day I find myself a new hobby. And I recommend the same to anyone else.
But from now on, I will start setting my FPS with this thing even lower, just to be shure.

Actually just test it with the rounds you're actually going to shoot with it, using the same brand and everything as dimensions vary (hence velocity) Do the conversion to jouelles and you know where you stand. The phenomena is not true of every gun but is more prevalent with long barreled gas guns.
I'm delighted to hear you're so concious of safety. (Everyone should be so aware) At 400 FPS you probably don't need to use a 50 foot rule for minimum engagment assuming people are wearing decent eye protection and a mouth guard.
It's interesting that 20 feet (A car mength) is the standard minimum engagement range at most fields and while seemingly random it's interesting that with guns shooting between 290 and 350 FPS the FPS drops off enormously after just 20 feet hence the pain factor. Incidently the FPS reduction is far greater with .20 gram then 25 gram BBs which why .25 grams shot from the same gun will in fact travel farther. (Also counter intuitive) By 30 Feet the FPS for .25 gram is greater then for .20 gram (quite pronouncedly at 50 feet.)
I've done alot of extensive testing and have made a lot of fascinating discoveries about the trajectory, velocity and range of airsoft guns.

Using my K-98, Gas power; I find that .20 gram shoot much harder than a .25gram at the chronograph. However, the .25 gram retains its FPS at longer range.
I never use .20 gram! Never in my Gas guns anyway! It is much better to go with a heavier weight as they retain the FPS at a longer range. My K-98 shoots at 550fps. I never shoot at anyone within 100ft of me. When people get that close I will pull my side arm or simply bayonet charge them. Which usually ends up getting me shot a lot. However, sometimes I catch people off guard and will “safety kill” them or simply take them prisoner. I think one of the 504th, 82nd guys got that experience!
