Why would you buy a $800 kit for an M14 when you could buy a Marushin M1 for $495? I just want to know the reason people do that is there any advantage in it? I am getting a cheap M14 and converting it myself is that a good idea is it easy to convert an M14 to a M1. What is the cheapest semi-auto M14 out there? I know I am asking allot of questions but I am new to this and want the veterans opinion.

Make sure to research. There are tons of threads in the Technical M1 Garand section that could answer all of your questions. I guess I will go ahead and help you out though. The Marushin M1 Garand is gas powered, and only shoots a weak 260fps. Gas weapons aren't that great in the winter, and tend to need a lot of care to keep it running. They only come in 8mm versions, which cost a little more than 6mm bb's, and add up over time. Lastly, they just aren't good in skirmishes. Eight round's per clip vs. AEG's with mid to hi cap magazines just doesn't seem to work out. The AEG M1 Garand, converted from the M14, preforms just like it's base weapon. It fires at a mean 330fps (Clone version), and is great in skirmishes. It doesn't need a lot of care, and it uses 6mm bb's. Also, where are you getting 800.00 from? The clone version's are $560.00, and even less if you make them yourself. The only down fall to the AEG Conversion it isn't 100% authentic.

^good summary^
Read the aeg garand conversion review I wrote in the gun review section to give you a good idea of the garand aeg. The main difference is that for about the same money (after shipping, a little gas and a few 8mm bb's) for the marushin the AEG garands perform MUCH MUCH better. Marushin's 8mm gas garand is one of the most finniky guns in the market, breaks very often, and isn't practical by any means. The AEG version has some slight cosmetic differences from its real steel counterpart, but are very good guns. Best advice I can give is to read all the threads relating to the AEG garands and the Marushin garand...you'll soon find which one is "better".

If you only need a gun that looks good but doesn't have to be skirmishable, the Marushin gun would be a better choice. That's about the only good side it has compared to the M14 AEG conversion. Oh, and it makes a nice, loudish bang when fired.

Got a couple thousand bucks and okay with the fact that it'll probably break within a couple hundred rounds? The answer would be....anythings possible but the most accurate response is ...."NO" The bolt mechanism on the conversions of course racks back but unlike most AEG bolts the M-14 M1 bolt area is huge and exhibits a long travel length. It also doesn't line up with the mobile piston inside the AEG so to rig it all up would be extremely involved and most likely very fragile. It would be very very cool if it did but at least in my case it ain't never going to happen.
