Got mine Thursday. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D I'm not sure what else to say. Being PPC (picture posting challanged) is not an issue because it looks just like the pictures Gryphon has already posted. There's not much to say about performance since it's an AGM M-14 and we all know how they perform. In spite of all this there are some negatives.
For those of us who look for accuracy there is no rear sight. A quick search will show you that they are hard, if not impossible to find, and very hard to build. The magazine is loaded through a hole in the left side of the drum. The plug for this hole can be seen in one of the pictures Gryphon posted. It sticks up about 1/4", and if you really like to pick at nits and many of us do, the safety on the real steel is more of a toggle than the Garand style of the M-14 from the doner gun.
For the skirmisher, not being one, I can only make some surmises. It will be easy to reload, pull the plug, pour in 200 bb's, and go on shooting. I have no experience with high cap drum mags so I don't know how often the spring has to be wound. However Gryphon mentions that the high rate of fire eats batteries. Changing batteries in the middle of a game would be hard as Gryphon has not, in spite of many efforts, been able to fit a butt plate that can be removed without removing the screws. I have no idea how much of a problem this may be.
All in all this is a supurb model. When Gryphon offered these for sale he said they were prototypes and was hoping for feedback to make the production model better. I intend to try to make some cosmetic improvements and will stay in touch with Gryphon with any progress I make. I would recommend this gun to anyone.
